Perfect.

Overall system is superb, love it. The quick release handles are awesome and the Bluetooth remote is great. Downside is… side camera button is covered and can’t be accessed at all Should be two clips for when phones inserted into cage, ever so slightly loose with just the one clip If your in a suitable environment this would be ok but, out in the real world, I’m not sure it would stand up to rigorous abuse, namely the clip holding the phone in. Smallrig please sort these issues out as it’s a great system other wise.

I bought the rig to use for night time photography and it would accept an iPhone 16 Pro. The rig did poorly with my Apple mag safe case but works fine with the case enclosed with the rig. I can now use the phone on a tripod both in portrait and landscape mode because there are sufficient holes to screw in a tripod plate though they can interfere with buttons on the phone. My main complaint is inability to add filters to the phone. I have ordered the newer Brandon Li model which is more expensive but does have better incorporation of filters.

C’est la première fois que j’achète du matériel Smallrig. Ce sera la dernière. Je suis rarement aussi critique, mais là, ça dépasse l’entendement. Première mauvaise impression, le mode d’emploi est incroyablement incomplet. Pas un mot sur la fixation des poignées sur la cage. Comme il y a plusieurs sens possibles, il faut chercher. Heureusement, je vois un QR code sur la notice. Ce QR code renvoi vers une liste de… 750 manuels ! Reste à trouver celui qui m’intéresse. Une fois trouvé, je constate que c’est le même que celui fourni dans la boîte. C’est sérieux tout ça ! Bref, on y arrive intuitivement, ce n’est pas bien compliqué. Ces poignées sont surmontées chacune d’un embout caoutchouté dont l’un fait office de commande de déclenchement. Malheureusement, ils coulissent sans forcer et se détachent donc très facilement. Perdus deux fois en 10 minutes de prise de vue. Ça promet. Celui qui fait télécommande est muni d’une languette qui empêche la pile de se décharger pendant le transport. Ok, mais comment se retire-t-elle ? Rien, bien sûr, dans le mode d’emploi. Simple, il suffit de dévisser les 4 vis du couvercle, ce qui provoque l’éjection de la pile. Une fois éjectée, cette pile ne veut plus dans son logement, qui semble trop petit. Il faut forcer pour la maintenir en place, tenir le couvercle tout en resserrant les minuscules vis de maintien du couvercle. Du grand art ! Je place maintenant l’iPhone dans la cage, après avoir placé la coque fournie. Super ça ! Mais une fois l’iPhone en place, le bouton de mise en route (celui de droite face à l’écran) est actionné tout seul par la coque, trop serrante. Voilà l’iPhone qui s’allume, s’éteint, appelle Siri… sans que je n’y touche ! Démontage de la coque et limage du bouton, ce qui résout le problème. Franchement, tout ça ne fait vraiment pas sérieux. Je m’attendais à un fabricant haut de gamme, je suis tombé sur des amateurs. C’est dommage, car une fois la crise de nerfs passée, le kit se révèle pratique et fonctionnel. De nombreux filetages et encoche permettent de placer quantité d’accessoires et l’ensemble donne une stabilité impossible à obtenir en filmant avec le téléphone seul. Tant pis, mais pour moi, Smallrig plus jamais !

Basically I like everything but the system of putting lenses on it has use flaws, first of all the metal clip you put in front of the lens is very loose and it is a matter of time before you loose it. Secondly the click-system of the adopter that you lock on to it, isn’t really locked, so kets say you need to turn your variable nd filter, the problem rises that with turning the vnd filter you will turn and unlock the whole system as well. So the whole idea of vnd to work quickly becomes very frustr. Beside all that: the cage and handles are great, I would prefer to add an handle with an HD built in to it.
