Smart Wi-Fi Door Lock, Deadbolt, Fingerprint Recognition, DL110

Wow. This little guy is wonderful. Installation was easy and took about 15 minutes to get the old deadbolt out and this one installed. We no longer have to carry house keys. We gave a code to the petsitter and set the dates of our vacation so they could only use it while we were gone. We gave a code of their own to our kids so they could get in if we weren't home. We often unlock it from the car if we have lots of groceries to carry in, especially if it's raining.( we can open our door handle with our elbow) You can also see historically what time and who unlocked the door on your event log. The fingerprint is awesome and convenient to not have to type in codes. On a side note, if your door has stuff piled behind it like ours, you may find yourself ringing the doorbell when you walk by. We've had this almost a year and the battery is still at 60%- the app tells you battery level at a glance. Our daughter has one in her house and we're so glad she told us how much she loved it.

I wanted to replace my ten year old Schlage electronic deadbolt and chose Tapo because I have several TP-Link and Tapo smart switches and plugs. Yeah! One app for everything! I *can* be a klutz installing things, but this lock was dead simple.... take the old lock off and remove the deadbolt mechanism that goes into the door frame, then replace them with the Tapo lock. If you can manage a phillips-head screwdriver, you can install this lock where your current deadbolt is. Trust me - I'm an occasional klutz. I pre-charged the internal battery the day before installing and am glad I did - it took a looooonnnnng time to charge fully.) I'd say it took a total of ten minutes from start to finish the installation. The lock popped up automagically on my Tapo app so it was simple to set up a master PIN code. Setting up finger prints to open the lock can be tricky: the lock keeps telling me that I need to clean the sensor. I didn't and ultimately the finger print was accepted. The lock is a tough looking metal and the entry pad seems to resist finger prints. The doorbell feature isn't required for my needs, but is a nice touch. I love the self-locking feature - if I forget to lock the door, it can be set up to lock itself after a set period of time. Unlike other TP-Link products however, there are only a few preset choices for this time delay. The finger print reader is ultra-fast in unlocking or locking the door. And should I ignore a low battery alert on the lock, I can use an external battery to provide juice to open the lock from the outside. Nice features! I liked this lock so much that I installed another one on an entry door to my side yard. So that I wouldn't have too many different keys, I had that new lock rekeyed by a locksmith to match the front door key. This cost less than $20. Future improvements I'd like to see: - I'd like to be able to schedule a lock or unlock daily schedule. All of the other TP-Link smart home products I have permit scheduling. - It would be nice to be able to share fingerprints and entry codes with multiple Tapo Smart Door Locks. In my case, I have two of these installed but I could see other uses for this - if you use them for a vacation home or use them in a commercial setting. - I'd like to be able to purchase an additional battery pack to keep handy. I've contacted the company to see if this is available. - The Tapo app allows you to create "Smart Actions" that automate TP-Link devices based on specific conditions. More documentation of the possibilities here are needed on their website. I've created on Smart Action to turn on the lights in certain rooms (all on TP-Link smart plugs) if I unlock my front door at night when my front porch light is on (also controlled by a Tapo smart switch.) I'd like to spur my imagination to see more possibilities for these Smart Actions.

I had a different brand previously that had broke twice trying to lock it. This one has so many great features. First the mechanism to lock is a thicker plastic than the previous brand I had (hasn’t broke!). The battery is rechargeable and holds a charge for a very long time. Love the fingerprint feature and it is so easy to give my cleaning lady a temporary code through the app. Another perk is that I can control it from my phone without any additional purchases needed (old one I had to buy a wifi bridge). It’s sleek looking and I love the feature where it auto locks after however long you program it for. I never have to worry about locking my door now. Definitely worth the price. High quality lock for not too much money. Bonus was that the wifi mesh system I have is also this brand and my cameras (which are a different brand) also connect on the app so it eliminated another use of a different app for me.

Last Updated 9/10/2025 (8 months in, 3 locks purchased with 2 in regular use) In an ocean of smart locks plagued with design, quality assurance, and failure issues, the Tapo DL110 stands out as the one above the rest. I had given this 4 starts, but changed to 5 because despite the drawbacks, it sets a new quality and performance standard for smart locks. -----Pros----- Noise Level - Much quieter deadbolt operation than all of the other smart deadbolts I have tried which startle and wake up the entire house. Battery - Long lasting lithium ion battery pack with USB-C charging port. At 4 months in the battery was still showing 100% on the original charge with the lock used about 10 times a day. Although the battery life is great, clearly the gauge is not very accurate since about 4 1/2 months in, the battery level started decreasing at a rate of about 1.5% per week. Updated - now at 8 months in the battery is at 78% from the original charge. Also note that the battery pack is proprietary, and I haven’t seen any replacement battery packs for sale at this time. Dead battery backup - There is a USB-C power port at the bottom of the outside of the lock in case the battery is dead. Thank you TP-Link! Fingerprint scanner - It works well, and you can lock the door when leaving by touching the sensor with any part of your finger, not just a registered finger. There is a slight delay though. When you program the scanner to your finger, be sure to use any possible angle and position you might end up touching the scanner with. 2 backup physical keys - There are 2 Schlage compatible keys (for easy copying). Another recent reviewer on here shows that it can be rekeyed and there are 2 screws locking the cylinder in-place. Install is easy. Reliability - I haven’t had a single reliability issue with these, though the first one I purchased was 100% DOA. Interestingly, the first one was hardware version 1 which had a keypad that was visible without activating the backlights just as the photos show in the Amazon ad. I did have a Tapo Smart Plug go bad on me rendering the connected device inoperable, as many others have due to poor quality relays inside of them, so Tapo’s electronic parts sourcing is questionable. Rubber gaskets - There are rubber gaskets on both sides of the lock that contact the door. This helps to stop it from moving around and also prevents damage to your door’s finish. This is HUGE, and whoever decided to do this should be commended and receive a promotion. Many other smart locks do not have these gaskets. -----Neutral----- App widget - There is an Android launcher widget available from the Tapo app so that you can quickly glance at the lock’s status and use it to open the Tapo app and bring you immediately to the lock’s control, however the Widget’s status (locked/unlocked icon and last change time) NEVER updates on its own in the background. You have to open the app for the widget’s status to change. This is a total disaster for those needing to constantly monitor whether your door is locked. It seems the app actually receives a notification from the cloud when the lock is locked or unlocked, so it wouldn’t have been much effort to add a handler in the app to update the widget. Also, several times I’ve launched the app via the widget only to be presented with an intrusive ad before I can unlock or lock the door. The person at TP-Link that decided to do this should obviously be immediately terminated. -----Cons----- Doorbell button - It’s very easy to accidentally hit the super sensitive doorbell button while operating the lock or opening the door, giving everyone using the app a false notification. This was a big problem in my household. Fortunately Tapo somewhat addressed this issue with an app update to allow you to disable the doorbell notification in the app, and not just the ding on the lock). This helps solve the issue but only for people that have no interest in using the doorbell button. I ended up disassembling the doorbell button by carefully removing the 3 black screws (don’t drop or lose them) using a small Philips jewelers/precision screwdriver, and carefully wedged some small folded up strips of painter’s tape under all 4 plastic spring arms so that it requires extra pressure to activate the button (see attached photos). You’ll need to make sure that whatever you wedge under the spring arms is fully tucked in and leaves full clearance around the center (for the center of the rubber circle) or else you’ll actually make it easier to hit the button. Tapo should have just included a replacement blank button cover that disables the doorbell physically Keypad - You cannot see the keypad digits AT ALL until you carefully touch the screen to wake it so as to not accidentally hit a digit. This is very inconvenient and annoying as it adds unnecessary time and complexity, especially for guests, to unlock (and lock with the lock icon) the door for people not using fingerprints. If I were Tapo, I would probably severely reprimand or terminate the individual that made this decision for looks over functionality to appease a select few individuals. Unfortunately, companies are afraid to take action upon employees that make disastrous decisions. The keypad should be exactly like it shows in the pictures in the ad, with white backlit letters. This really only matters if you have users that aren’t going to be using the fingerprint sensor. Delay when locking - There is an irritating slight response delay when pressing the fingerprint button to lock the door when leaving, unlike other smart locks. My guess is this is due to the fingerprint sensor chipset they used not outputting a signal immediately when touched since this is a unique use of off the shelf fingerprint sensor hardware. This issue could be resolved if Tapo had just had an always visible keypad so you could use the lock icon on it to immediately lock the door. I have noticed that you can press the fingerprint sensor and let go before the confirmation light comes on, and it still locks. API Access and Automation - There is no open API access for third party automation hubs such as HomeSeer and Home Assistant, or Matter support. There is Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant integrations though. This does means that you’re forced into using the Tapo cloud along with the Tapo app and its limitations to set it up. The Tapo automations available are extremely limited in the Tapo app. For example, after coming home at night and unlocking your door, you might want your inside entry light to come on for a few minutes so you can see where you’re going. It’s not possible to setup an unlock automation to turn on a Tapo controlled light when it's after sunset, then automatically turn off after several minutes. It’s also not possible to setup an action only when using the keypad or fingerprint sensor. This would be helpful if you wanted to guarantee the action only executes when someone unlocks the door from outside. Otherwise the unlock action would trigger when you unlock the door from the inside mechanically. Misc - If any of the issues above bother you too, please post something on Tapo’s community forum, and please mark this helpful so hopefully Tapo’s team pays attention. -----Other----- Cloud devices - Like most cloud based devices, there is absolutely no local network access or onboard web interface. You are required to install and use the Tapo app to setup, configure, and use the lock. You should consider what would happen if Tapo, or any other cloud device manufacturer for any devices you purchase, decides to start charging a monthly fee or goes out of business. Also, you should expect that people working for the company will have access to your precise location based on your WiFi BSSID, as well as full control over your door lock / all devices you own. Misc - I saw a review on here where someone mentioned that they ordered several of these locks and they all were missing installation screws and the lock itself was missing a “cutout” for the battery. I can see in their photos that all the screws are included, they didn’t read the directions, and they didn’t understand that that you need to slide up the cover to install the battery. If you are confused about the install, please hire a pro. Returns and inaccurate or irrelevant reviews cost everyone a lot of money!

I've been wanting for a few months I was looking at tapo cheaper options but I instead went with this option for the auto lock and door bell hiding the key slot. My only concerns are the touch capacity and if it will last. That's why I was considering the cheap option for just the buttons. So we'll see just got it but it was an easy set up. I got a little confused and had to look at the manual all in all prob took me around 30 minutes to put together. Mines came low battery will charge it up hopefully the charge last 😭 It looked like a new package so we shall see how long the battery lasts. Also had trouble with blue tooth connectivity at first I had to press reset and put in put in pair mode. WiFi connected easily. So far good quality. It fit my door almost perfect. I needed to redo the screws and scrape cut out small piece of wood to be flush but it still was opening and locking so I’ll do that at a later date when I get the tools to do that.

I've only had this lock for one day, but two things stand out immediately. First, the build quality feels solid and well-made, with a level of fit and finish that inspires confidence. Second, Tapo has done an excellent job with the installation process. Everything fit perfectly, and the setup was straightforward from start to finish—no errors, no guesswork, and no unexpected challenges. The connectivity and app integration were equally smooth. Pairing the lock and getting it online was quick and seamless, without any hiccups. Having owned two other smart locks in the past, I can say that this has been the easiest and most trouble-free installation and setup experience I've had so far. Based on my initial impressions, I'm very pleased with the product.

I bought three of these and love them. They have been working perfectly for about three weeks so far. I was skeptical about Tapo’s claim to 12 months on a single battery charge, but it’s been 9 months and, surprisingly, the lock we use many times every day, still has an impressive 26% charge! I wasn’t keen on the color (flat black) but it ended up looking great. There are a lot of great features in the app. I don’t think Tapo missed anything someone would want to do. Each lock had to be administered individually. I other words, if you want to add a PIN number for someone, you have to add it each and every lock. The same goes for fingerprint access. Not that big of deal for PIN numbers, but, I do wish it was possible to “copy” a fingerprint from one lock to another. I have asked this before buying this but nobody could answer… the physical keyway for this lock is Schlage SC1. This is good to know if you want to rekey the physical key to match some other door lock you have. I already owned the things necessary to rekey Schlage locks and was able to easily rekey all three of these Tapo locks to use the same key. The supplied latch is adjustable and will work with either of the two standard deadbolt setbacks. It was very easy to replace an existing deadbolt. The physical key hole is under a cap which is also the doorbell button. I have a separate video doorbells and don’t want people to use the doorbell on this lock. I wish Tapo would give you a dummy cap without the bell icon that you could switch out and use instead. I’m tempted to get some flat black paint and paint over them. No numbers are visible on the number pad until you touch it. It then lights up and the numbers are bright enough and large enough to see in the dark. It is sensitive to a light touch. Mine are installed on residences and are used many times a day. The batteries still show at 100% after three weeks. Tapo says a charge should last a year. Time will tell. If you connect your Tapo app to Alexa, you can ask her to unlock the door but you first have to setup the lock in the ALEXA app and configure a PIN for the voice unlock command. Anytime you use your voice to tell Alexa to unlock the door she will ask for you to say the PIN number out loud. You don’t need this PIN number for other Alexa commands like “lock door” or “is the door locked”. I can kind of understand why they require a PIN for unlock, but, I think they should leave it up me. Make it the default but let me uncheck it. I live on the fourth floor, even if someone stood on the sidewalk and yelled at the top of their voice “Alexa, unlock Unity Front Door” she wouldn’t hear them AND they would have to know that mine is called “Unity Front Door”. I highly recommend and definitely buy again.

This lock is great. I've had it installed on my back door at home for about six months now and have not had any issues with either one. The battery life is pretty impressive too, as i haven't needed to recharge them yet. It came highly recommended by a friend who has several of these installed in their house (he's got like 10 kids so you know he needs all the help he can get). I really love not having to carry around keys anymore and the fingerprint recognition is super fast, even when my hands are wet or dirty. Plus, it's nice that i don't have to worry about losing my keys now either. You just put your finger on the scanner and bam, you're in. The app works well too, which is a bonus since I can lock and unlock the doors from anywhere. It's handy when I forget if I locked up or not, or need to let someone in while I'm away. One time i even used it to scare my neighbor by locking him out of his own house (he was trying to borrow some sugar). The app is great for that sort of thing, although you do have to be careful not to lock yourself out too. You can also set up different codes for guests or family members, which is useful if you want to give them access but don't want to share your main code (or fingerprint) with them. I keep meaning to try the bluetooth connection as well, just haven't gotten around to it yet. The lock does have a backup key slot in case all else fails, although i doubt i'll ever need to use it given how reliable everything else is. I would definitely recommend this smart door lock to anyone looking for an upgrade from their old-fashioned locks. It's worth the investment and makes life so much easier. The only thing I wish they had included was some kind of manual override if the battery dies, but you can buy a separate power bank that works with it online (just make sure to get one that's compatible).

quite happy with the lock. easy to install, simple enough and smart enough. best one in this price range. interact quite well with tapo app and other TP link smart home applications.

Excellent smart lock, fits well into my Tapo ecosystem as well as Alexa integration. I was unable to fit the lock without the assistance of a locksmith as the item seems more geared to th US market. However, it has gone in OK and is working well. It replaces a Yale Linus smartlock that seemed to eat batteries. I am expecting that this Tapo smartlock should only require recharging after many months of use. It also has a safety key which will unlock the lock from outside even if the battery is depleted. Keypad and fingerprint scanning works well. The lock does not have any concept of whether the door is ajar or not so if you have set an autolock timer the lock will close irrespective of the door position. The newly released Tapo DL130 smartlock solves this problem. The item comes from the US and was quickly despatched but Evri fulfil the UK part of the delivery. My item was "stuck" in an Evri hub and it needed numerous chat and emails to get it to me. Although the item was delivered in the quoted timescale I don't believe this would have been the case unless I hadn't intervened. I understand why suppliers use Evri because of their competitive pricing but they are not the most reliable (certainly in my experience). As a smartlock I would thoroughly recommend it - get one, you will not be disappointed.
