The flavor isn't over powering or too sweet like many other hydration supplements. This also doesn't have a strong salty taste. It has a very pleasant flavor.The powder seems to mix well with water. The water bottle isn't clear, so I poured the contents into another glass and observed that there wasn't any suspended particles or residue left on the water bottle. And the pod was completely empty. This was with very little shaking, and cold water. So the flavor was also consistent from the first sip to the last.I appreciate some of the "extra" features that come with this. There was a nice brochure in that package that talks about the science of the product and the philosophy of the company. So many times, I feel that hydration supplement companies put ingredients into their products without much thought. And they add things in such large quantities that your body can't possible benefit. These pods come with just a little nutrition -- a few Vitamins and Minerals. But not a lot of the other stuff that's going to cause your system to get out of balance. I also appreciate that this company has thought about how to handle the waste created by using their product.When I ordered this, I felt as though the steel water bottle was a free "accessory". I don't like to base reviews on those free "accessories". But in this case, you're pretty much locked into using their water bottle to use their pods. I did observe that you might be able to open the pod without the bottle. But I think it was intended that you use the pods in this water bottle. So... I will talk about the water bottle.There are two different water bottles in the description pictures. There is the 22oz, thinner bottle in most of the pictures. There is a larger bottle being held by a person in one of the pictures. The water bottle that came with my starter bundle is the thinner 22oz one. The bottle fits nicely into the cup holders in my car. It feels very sturdy. There aren't any seams in the inside or outside of the body of the bottle, so it's continuous and not likely to separate and leak.The bottle came with two lids (as shown in one of the description pictures). The lid with the straw isn't able to open the pods. You need to use the other lid, then swap the lids if you want the straw. That makes it somewhat inconvenient since you then have to carry both lids. For me, I don't feel the need to use the straw. The opening of the "Pod Lid" does what I need.I haven't tested the ability to retain heat/cold. But this feels similar to other stainless steel bottles, so I expect it will perform similarly.The exterior of the water bottle has a bit of a texture on it. This is nice in that it's not going to slip out of your sweaty hands... but it also means you might have texture showing through when you apply personalized decals. But then again, the texture is consistent and it might look interesting to have that texture come through the decal.In terms of value... The water bottle that comes in the starter bundle is probably a significant portion of the product value. Keeping that in mind, the price for the starter bundle seems very reasonable.

I like the pineapple Vitapod. But would like to be able to just buy pods without the drink container.

Okay, so I got the pineapple flavored pods and they taste GREAT... but:- The price is pretty high for water enhancers at about $1.7-2 per pod for the 30 pack refill ($51 at the time of writing). I can get other water enhancers for much less- Of course the claim is the price is justified by the unique delivery and possibly "better preserved" ingredients... but I have no way of testing the validity of that claim- These are a little of a nuisance to use, unlike other water enhancers that are packets or drops that you can drop/squirt into a bottle you already own and shake. This requires their special bottle to "pop" the pod open, you still need to shake... but hey, I guess the bonus is there's no gritty stuff left over (everything dissolves well)?- You also have to worry about recycling/dropping off the bag of used pods if you want to be environmentally conscious, because this generates much more waste than other forms of water enhancers... but then again, creating the pods contributes to greenhouse gases to begin with, so who wins?But the flavor is so darned good, I've been using them sparingly so I can preserve my supply :\

This is a very nice water bottle with the extra pod section and a package of 30 pods (we got the variety pack and it's a ton of variety). Everything is excellent. The bottle is top of the line—skinny and tall (especially with the extra section), but it seals well and it looks great. It comes with two tops, one including a straw to suck, and one with a spout to pour.The drinks are very tasty too. With creative flavors like cotton candy (which actually is pretty tasty and not overly sweet), peach tea, blackberry mint, and the like, you won't find the selection anywhere else it seems. All flavors have several fair amounts of essential vitamins and minerals and several of the flavors have extra kick of caffeine or herbals. You will need to keep the sheet it comes with or you won't know what you're putting in your body.All said, this is just a bottle and some drink mixes. The pod thing is a little gimmicky and my kids loved it, but I'm not sure what value it adds. It definitely introduces a sanitary issue since the outside of the pods are all up in the water you're drinking. I make drinks from drink packets all the time and I don't have any trouble mixing them without the pod contraption.
