I’ve tried a fair few decaf coffee beans, and Lavazza Decaf Intenso is definitely one of the better ones out there. If you’re looking to cut caffeine without sacrificing that rich coffee taste, this is a strong contender. Pros: Full-bodied flavor: For a decaf, it’s impressively intense and smooth, with chocolatey notes and a deep aroma. Great for espresso: Works really well in an espresso machine or bean-to-cup setup—crema is decent too. Trusted brand: Lavazza always delivers consistency in quality and roast. Evening-friendly: Perfect for a late-night coffee fix without the jitters or messing up your sleep. Cons: Not 100% like regular coffee: It’s close, but if you’re a hardcore caffeine lover, you might notice a slight difference in depth. Limited roast options: Only available as a medium-dark roast, so if you prefer lighter decaf beans, this might not hit the mark. Slightly pricey: Costs a bit more than some other decaf beans, but the quality does help justify it. Overall, Lavazza Decaf Intenso is a standout decaf that doesn’t feel like a compromise. I keep it as my go-to for a mellow afternoon brew or evening espresso. Highly recommend for anyone cutting caffeine but not flavor!

My regular tipple is the Lavazza decaf beans. I chose them after trying several other makes and Lavazza just tasted that bit better and came in at better price point. I saw these on Amazon and wondered whether I would get the kind of taste I like while using less beans per cup as it claims to be twice as strong. It will take a while to work it out by testing but its a good flavour and because of its different Arabica/Robusta bean content tastes a little different from the 100% Arabica original. I'll give it a bit more time until I decide whether to switch over and see what family and friends prefer as well. I still prefer the Lavazza flavour to the more expensive upmarket competition though.

These beans manage to avoid the thin, flat taste that often comes with decaf. The roast gives a respectable depth, with chocolate and roasted nut notes coming through clearly. The finish has a touch of bitterness that works well in milk drinks. For an evening espresso or cappuccino, the flavour is strong enough to feel like a proper coffee. The beans grind evenly and extract consistently, so there’s no sense of compromise in the preparation. Crema production is decent, though not quite as thick as some full-strength blends. Where it falls short is in balance. The intensity sometimes tips toward sharpness, especially if brewed as a straight espresso, and the aftertaste can linger longer than expected for a decaf. It’s not unpleasant, but it lacks the smoothness that would make it a true standout. As a decaf option, it delivers more punch than most, but the edges keep it from being an all-rounder replacement for every cup. It is reliable for evenings or when you want flavour without caffeine (medication, just because etc) but not the kind of coffee you’d reach for every single cup.

Love this stuff. It's difficult to find really nice, richly roasted coffee beans which are also decaffeinated: they are usually insipid and totally lacking in character. THese beans are totally different: dark and slightly smoky, but not burnt and with just the right balance of oils They are now my go-to decaff beans! Value for money is also very good.

As decaf coffee goes, this is probably the best I have found so far. It claims to be strength 6, unlike the more readily available version from Lavazza which is only strength 3. When I say more readily available, being able to get hold of this one has proved to be a lottery. Sometimes it's there, sometimes there a wait of several weeks. Clearly this is not ideal, but as this is a review of the coffee itself I won't deduct any stars. As far as the coffee goes I would recommend giving this one a try.

Best decaf coffee I've had - it tastes like normal coffee, perfectly roasted 👍🫡. I bought good few bags already and can definitely recommend if you need a decaf.

Delicious! It can be hard to find a good strong-flavoured decaff coffee bean, but Lavazza delivers.

Richtig gut. Illy ist mit fast 12 Euro bei 250g im Moment sehr teuer. So haben wir den Melitta decaf probiert, der mit unserem Siebträger scheusslich war. Nun diesen ausprobiert und wir sind sehr zufrieden. Stärkere Note als die andere Decafvariante von Lavazza. Schön schokoladig. Man darf ihn nicht zu fein mahlen, dann kommen Crema und Geschmack voll zur Geltung. Toller Decaf-Kaffee. Mit Milchschaum ein Genuss.

Sehr guter koffeinfreier Kaffee! Der Geschmack ist angenehm und aromatisch. Ich bin sehr zufrieden und würde ihn wieder kaufen.

Ich trinke gern am späten Nachmittag, oder Abend noch einen Kaffee in einer Siebträger Maschine zubereitet. Das klappt bei Bohnen mit Koffein bei mir nicht ohne das die Schlaf Qualität darunter leidet. Dieser Kaffee ist sehr lecker, auch ohne Koffein Genuss. Sehr zu empfehlen für den späten Genuss.

Normalerweise schmecken koffeinfreie Varianten für mich eher fade und dünn, aber diese Arabica-Robusta-Mischung hat mich eines Besseren belehrt. Die Inhaltsstoffe sind erfreulich simpel - es handelt sich um 100% Röstkaffee ohne jegliche Zusätze. Die Bohnen werden durch ein natürliches Verfahren entkoffeiniert, was bedeutet, dass keine chemischen Lösungsmittel verwendet werden. Dieses schonende Verfahren scheint tatsächlich einen Großteil der Aromastoffe zu erhalten, denn geschmacklich unterscheidet sich dieser Kaffee weniger von koffeinhaltigen Sorten als erwartet. Die mitteldunkle Röstung mit einer Intensität von 6 von 10 bringt deutliche Kakao-Noten hervor, die besonders beim Cappuccino zur Geltung kommen. Die beworbenen Holz- und Tabakaromen kann ich persönlich nicht so deutlich herausschmecken, aber das stört mich nicht weiter. Der Kaffee hat eine angenehme Vollmundigkeit und ist weder sauer noch bitter. Meine Partnerin, die normalerweise nur milden Kaffee trinkt, findet ihn sogar zu intensiv und bevorzugt die hellere Variante der Marke. Mit meiner Siebträgermaschine lässt sich ein ordentlicher Espresso zubereiten, der auch eine akzeptable Crema entwickelt. Als Filterkaffee in unserer neuen Maschine mit integriertem Maherk funktioniert er ebenfalls gut, auch wenn hier die Intensität etwas verloren geht. Die empfohlene Dosierung von einem Esslöffel auf 180 ml Wasser passt gut. Positiv ist, dass sich auch abends problemlos mehrere Tassen trinken lassen, ohne Schlafprobleme befürchten zu müssen. Das macht diese Bohnen besonders für Menschen interessant, die aus gesundheitlichen Gründen auf Koffein verzichten müssen oder wollen. Der Preis von knapp 12 Euro für 500 Gramm ist durchaus angemessen, wenn auch nicht günstig. Entkoffeinierte Qualitätsbohnen kosten generell mehr als normale Varianten, da der Entkoffeinierungsprozess aufwendig ist. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt trotzdem, besonders wenn man bedenkt, dass viele günstigere entkoffeinierte Alternativen geschmacklich deutlich schwächer abschneiden. Etwas schade ist, dass es diese Sorte nur in 500-Gramm-Packungen gibt. Größere Mengen wären wirtschaftlicher und würden weniger Verpackungsmüll verursachen. Auch eine Bio-Zertifizierung wäre wünschenswert, ist aber bei diesem Hersteller generell nicht Standard. Die Bohnen lassen sich problemlos mahlen und zeigen eine gleichmäßige Röstung ohne verbrannte Stellen. Nach dem Öffnen sollten sie kühl und trocken gelagert werden, wobei ein luftdichter Behälter empfehlenswert ist, um das Aroma zu bewahren.

Das ist für mich aktuell der beste entkoffeinierte Kaffee. Falls jemand noch bessere entkoffeinierte Kaffeebohnen kennt, freue ich mich über Empfehlungen
