Eshopps AEO11005 Overflow Boxes Pf-800 for Aquarium Tanks

Picture doesn't reflect the actual product. The PF-800 is a single inlet overflow box. Having said that, this thing works pretty great. I hear people say these are really loud. I can say it's almost quiet. My wife and I both removed how "quiet" the aquarium is with this new box. It gets a little unnerving. Now that I am used the quietness of our family room aquarium I must say something about this overflow box that I kind of figured out through trial and error. This overflow box has stopped siphoning two or three times. Depending on your set up this could be a big problem where all of you water from you sump could overflow your tank. What I figured out is depending on how you have it hanging on the tank could cause the U-Tube to be so deep (in the blox box inside your aquarium) that it's touching the bottom which causes it to lose siphon. I rounded out a soda bottle cap and put it under the tub u-section. The siphon works great now with no problems. I don't think it's necessarily a design issue but rather how i set my water level in the display tank. Maybe E-Shopps could provide a little shorter tube. I would recommend this box to anybody. Just be aware that if you are losing siphon please put something under the U-tube to lift off the bottom of the black box. Doesn't need a lot of lift. Just enough to allow the water to flow into the over flow.

Easy install, put on tank adjust black box up or down to control water level in tank. Start siphon ( I have found it is easy to put a piece of airline tubing up the pipe and start a siphon and then pull out). Was a little loud, I removed the black sponge and put a piece of airline tubing down the hole and it did the trick (thanks to a youtube video) I have it on a 75 gallon tank with a RIO Plus 2500 rated at 782gph pump. Works great!!!!

Unit came in great condition and was easy to install. Keep suction, even during water changes, and starts back up as soon as power is restored. Seems solid, a bit pricy for a few pieces of plastic. Solid 5 stars.

The item is lightweight, solid and quiet. The picture in the item description is not what I got - the part that contains the sponge, the box that goes on the outside of the tank was black. Which is better than the clear box in the picture. It is quiet. The sponge has a piece of PVC pipe that you have to shove into the hose and that will literally make it extremely quiet. It took me a while to figure it out since the thing doesn't really have great instructions. This brand is pretty well known so any search on youtube will yield results on how to make the sound of the flow even quieter. If you buy this item make sure to tighten it but avoid over tightening. Some people in some reviews have stated that the " U" tube has some air bubbles, in my case it does not. It is a constant flow. If I turn the power off to my equipment the overflow will stop and start on its own. Great product. I would recommend it. It comes with a 3ft hose but you can buy some that are longer at 4 or 6 feet long.

Part missing from the item. Should have a stand pipe foam sleeve to catch large particles that might get in overflow and to help dampen noise. The black cylindrical part in the picture inside the overflow. Eshopps makes very good products, too good to.keave out major components.

Terrible nonexistent instructions. Plastic Screw should float not sink, real pain when falls behind reef. Threading is weak and nonstandard and would not connect to pvc adaptor. Very expensive for what it is.

I don't know why anyone is having issues with this overflow unless they didn't read the description. I have it installed on my 40 ga breeder reef tank and it took maybe 15 min to get it up and going, but only because I washed it prior to putting it on due to the strong new acrylic smell. I will say the tube to suck the air out is a little bit too short if you can't get beside your aquarium, however, if you own an aquarium I'm sure you have plenty lying about so it wasn't a big deal. If you run into the issue of not being able to get all the air out of the u-tube, once you start up the pump and flow is going just wiggle the tube until the moving water pushes it out (shouldn't take more than 5 minutes depending on your return pump strength. If it seems to not be keeping up with your pump then you need to add a piece of tubing under the u-tube like I did because it means the bottom of the tube is too close to the bottom of the skimmer box (I included a picture of what I mean) I have a rio+ 2500 pump with a 4ft rise and am very sure I could use an even stronger pump with no issues.

I'm kind of shocked here and maybe I'm missing something but I trust Eshopps as I've bought plenty of their products in the past. This is a fairly good overflow but don't expect to out 800gph thru it as it comes out of the package or probably at all. I had a Danner Mag Drive 5 running 500pgh and this overflow struggled to keep up not to mention how long it was. I eventually dropped the flow down to about 300gph and put in a stockman standpipe and its now running fine and quiet. Just don't expect to get out of this what it's advertised. I bought it thinking I would only be using about half it's capacity, truth being it can only handle a bit over half of what it's advertising.

product works excellent. tried a few blackout tests and it starts back up everytime, tube never empties so it keeps its siphon, excellent product.

Works great. The only that bothers me about this is its kinda noisy. Not a lot but its enough to notice it. Can be difficult to stop the sucking sound. If you perfect the flow going through, it will quiet down. No issues restarting with power outage.

Love the unit. U tube came broken. I hope that they will replace it.
