Satan's Affair

I went into this novella with an open mind, and I get why the reviews are mixed. Sibby's dad is supposed to be a preacher, but not really, and her mom's stuck in her own trauma. Sibby doesn't want to follow her dad's rules, so she gets punished pretty badly. Definitely read the trigger warnings for this book, seriously. Sibby "leaves her dad" – I won't even get into her mom, just read it if you want. Then Sibby thinks she can smell evil and does it in a haunted dollhouse at a fair. She gets help with her discoveries and teaches these people a tough lesson about being evil, or so she thought. She even runs into a character from the first Haunting Adeline book (no spoilers!). The beginning of this book is, well, a little gory and a lot spicy. It didn't bother me, though. Do I recommend it? Yes, but seriously, check those trigger warnings.

*Satan's Affair* was an intense, fast-paced read that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The story flowed really well, and I flew through it in one sitting. The spice level is absolutely through the roof, so definitely know what you're getting into before diving in. If you enjoy dark romance with plenty of intensity, this is a quick, wild ride that's worth checking out.

I read this book after reading the Haunting Adeline books and Phantom. I wanted to know more about Sibel. I’m happy because I did get to know more about her but it was very short and felt a little rushed. But overall I’m satisfied with this book. My favorite part was getting to the part where she meets Zade.

Satan’s Affair H.D. Carlton DAMN. I am not sure what to say about this one. But good for her. Honestly, I will never have an issue with women who rid the world of evil men. There is a level of healing when reading these types of novels that people who haven’t been through horrific trauma will never understand. It’s justice and balance that we can never obtain in the real world. The novel is definitely graphic. Probably the most graphic I’ve read. H.D. Carlton did a phenomenal job at the flashback scenes. To be fair, it’s the entire book. They are visceral in a context of a world that is so many children’s realities, not just their own abuse but trying to protect their loved ones from it as well, try and survive. Sibel is beautifully written. Her capacity to love her men, her faith in herself and her mission, the complexity of the trauma that shaped her. Each of her men have distinct personalities and how they function with Sibel and one another is something H.D. Carlton captured spectacularly. And what a brilliant twist. I absolutely loved this novel and I’m so excited to dive into Haunting Adeline.

Navigating her character feels like walking through a minefield—if you don't handle her situation with absolute care, she will not hesitate to kill you. ​Zade makes that brief appearance before slipping away when the cops show up, but Sibby clearly took a liking to him. Even though Zade eventually helps her out after her wardy escape in Hunting Adeline, Sibby immediately runs off with Kraven into the unknown. With Addie now trying to track down where they vanished to, you're left desperate for H.D. Carlton to give us a proper follow-up on where Sibby's chaos leads next. ​Fast, dark, and setting up an unbelievable universe!

This was a great read. Highly recommended to me to read before the cat & mouse duet. Sibels story was very interesting and the writing was so descriptive I could image it almost first hand. The ending was a complete shock to me. I did not want to put this book down and am so sad it’s over. I hope to hear more about this character in the duet.

Satan's Affair is a dark and gruesome reverse harem novella that is not for the faint of heart. It follows the story of Sibel, a disturbed woman who believes it's her mission to rid the world of evil by hunting down and killing those she deems to be demonic. The setting is a traveling Halloween carnival called Satan's Affair, and the author does a great job of creating a creepy and eerie atmosphere that adds to the horror of the story. While the writing itself is well done, and the author's ability to create such a disturbing and unsettling story is impressive, the book is not without its flaws. The character of Sibel is incredibly disturbing, and her actions throughout the story are downright horrifying. This is not a book for readers who are sensitive to violence, gore, or explicit sexual content. The first half of the novella was a bit of a real struggle to get through, as it's filled with graphic scenes of murder and sexual violence that are hard to stomach. However, the last few chapters of the book provided a much-needed plot twist that makes up for the brutality of the first half. The ending is also quite interesting, leaving me with many unanswered questions. Overall, while Satan's Affair is certainly not for everyone, those who enjoy dark and disturbing horror stories will likely find it to be a compelling read. However, readers who are sensitive to extreme violence, gore, and explicit sexual content should definitely steer clear of this book.

2.5 stars Sooooooooooooooo. . . . Ummmmmmm. . . Yeah. I went into this not knowing anything. I’ve seen everyone saying read haunting/hunting Adeline freaking out about it so I caved in. I looked it up and seen this was meant to be first so I went for it. To be honest if I didn’t look at some reviews for this until mid way through this book when I was about to DNF if not for them I would not have pushed through. The heavy porn scenes(because that is what this is, this is not soft smut or heavy passionate sex, this is unfiltered hardcore porn in some points) where fine no problem I don’t mind that. It was the gore that got me, so much descriptive unhinged gore. My mind like I’m sure many others is very overactive so it likes to run away with thoughts so this was very though and I had to skim a couple paragraphs when it came to the murdering. Now if this book is what it is like in haunting/hunting duo then I would probably just stop here and leave it alone but I see where some are saying this book is more unhinged and that it’s not as good and the duet so I will be willing to dive further into this world. This book was a stand alone, then I would have stopped when the 2nd murdering scene happened. This book was just not my cup of tea. I liked the back story, I liked the crazy Harley Quinn(old Harley Quinn) mentality, I liked the different henchmen and that each of them brought something to the table(wink wink) I liked the plot twist at the end but I kinda thought it might be something like that but I didn’t think it would be that intense of a twist. I liked that the “demons” were just normal people there was nothing extra about them just normal people who had something eating them from the inside out that only Sibby could see. What I could not handle was the gore, the intense gore to was just soooooooooo much for me the murdering, the rage, the crazy fine I get it she wasn’t taught things as a kid how to handle things like an adult so she’s like a rebelling teen still how let’s all her pent up emotions out of those she murders. But the description of her murder everything she does to them. A scene where she uses a mace like object and insert it somewhere then pulls out their entrails I had to stop reading and walk away and come back. After that I was careful about the murdering and started to skim the gore a bit. I would say this is more of a horror/gore/erotica book and those just aren’t my types of books

I wasn’t expecting the graphics scenes, but as a horror movie fan I was thrilled it with. Carlton mixes well the grotesque, the sexy and the “flashback” parts, and even though you know Sibby is technically wrong you still cheer for her! The plot twist left me shocked for a few minutes, and it was so good! It remembers me of my favorite movie. I think the only “complain” I’ve about the book it’s not having a Portuguese version to share it my friends. (Also, the waiting that starts now to read Sibby’s next adventure)

I loved this story of madness and consequences very dark from the start hiw abuse can have devastating consequences a great read 10/10

What an amazing read it was! Surprising, thrilling, addicting and other awesome adjectives you know in your vocabulary is what this book was. I loved Sibby, i loved her henchmen, I loved Zade's appearance in it! I adored him in this book... almost felt like a human doing a good job!!
