Review: Excellent! - These US coin books are excellent, especially for collectors. My son is absolutely thrilled and can spend hours studying them. There is a lot of useful and interesting information for coin collectors, presented in a clear and engaging way. The book itself is very high quality — glossy pages, colorful illustrations, and sturdy printing. It’s pleasant to read and easy to use, even for a child. The information is well organized and truly educational. Considering the quality and content, the price is very reasonable. I definitely recommend these books to anyone interested in US coins Review: Must have for amateur coin collectors - Great book of information. When it comes to value, always realize that it is quoting from the spot silver price of about $40 an ounce, which is way under what it is in 2026, but that would be for any book, so it’s not a detriment, it’s just something you need to consider. Overall, this is a great reference manual. I got the wired bound version and it’s a little difficult to keep all the pages where they will close properly after you use it, but the book and contents themselves are great.

Book is very comprehensive.
The best thing is it tells you the silver and gold prices at the time of writing. $32-silver and $2800-gold. This allows me to guessimate the real 2026 value of my coins as $79-silver and $4800-gold is around the new price but changes daily. I made a spread sheet to be able to plug in today's price to see present value. Of course the value is whatever someone is willing to pay, but it gives you a good idea. The book is easy to use and covers all kinds of coins and medals and commemoratives.

Extensive; Heavy; Rich in Photos; Excellent Overview of Coins; Print Too Small
What am I reviewing? I am evaluating Whitman’s 2026 Coin Guide Red Book Review – Spiral Edition. Immediate impression? This is Extensive; and heavy to lug around, so much so that it’s more of a coffee table or stationary reference book, rather than something can be traveled about with. Describe the book At about (484) pages, this is encyclopedia like; its softcover, not including the rings, measures (6”) x (9”); it is also over x (¾”) thick – it is “not” the (1.3”) referenced in the listing ; this is designed to deliver coin values, images, and grading to aid collectors’ decisions – but it is not an in-depth specialized guide. Weight? This is shockingly heavy, at (1.75) pounds. That does not sound like much, however, consider the average book is about one (1) pound; so, in-hand, it is heavy. Also, for children at what age? This is tailored for children aged 8+ years in age – and of course for adults of all ages. Why was this published? This started out, decades ago as a source for collectors, but now arguably is a bible that serious professionals can use. Copyright date? This book’s copyright year is 2025. Publication date? April 8, 2025. When received? Fall 2025, so several months after publication. Kindle? Yes, it’s available as a Kindle eBook, I ponder whether this would be better, rather than having this massive book. Audiobook? No, it’s “not” available as an Audiobook. Is this available in soft/hardcovers? Yes. Publishing House? Whitman -CDN Publishing, LLC. Was this paper FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified? I see nothing that corroborates such. What is FSC®? Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) certified. It identifies products made from a mix of materials from FSC-certified forests; controlled wood sources that meet FSC standards; and materials that have been recycled – which have a combination of certified and non-certified materials while still adhering to responsible forest management practices. Does this have PEFC™ (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)? Nothing corroborates that this product’s paper was so certified. What is PEFC™? PEFC™ tells me that if this was from eco-friendly wood, that could qualify for PEFC™ certification, it would have been wood that was sourced from certified forests – which follow sustainable forest management practices. Is it fiction? No. Main theme? Numismatics. Published price [on back cover] US $17.95 | CAN $25.95 Best thing I liked about this book? The massive quantity of references to various coins. What did I not care for? How small the print is and the weight of this book [it’s heavy]. Does this have visual appeal? The photos serve as a notable feature of the particular coin under study. The vibrant and dynamic visuals are captivating; it’s all about enhancing the visual educational experience, but again this can be hard to read for sight challenged readers. Room for improvement? The book's broad coverage is excellent, especially when I was seeking detailed information on certain coins. Rating? Based on the totality, I think this a strong four (4) stars, what took this down is the small print and the fact I still need to go online to get the latest prices. I hope my thoughts added a bit of information.

As a non-profit hobby, coins can be entertaining.
This book specializes in some truly old and rare coins. What is needed probably is a book that specializes in everything back until about 1918. That includes everything recent. It is worth the money. I think a book showing technique in simply and gently cleaning modern coins might be useful.

Novice to professional.
I bought this book as a reference guide for my husband. My husband has taken up coin collecting in his retirement. He's new to the game, but this book is making him look and sound like a professional. Truth is he's still reading it. His favourite parts are the error photos, so he knows exactly what to look for. I doubt he'll be a novice for long.
