I had to replace a Fill Valve and Flapper in one of our toilet cisterns. I knew from experience that emptying the tank is important, but it takes more than shutting off the water and draining it. Large, absorbent sponges are important tools for this type of job, and the sponges were ideal! However, note that they arrive from Amazon in an almost flat package. I was expecting the sponges to arrive, but when it turned up, I couldn't believe it contained 2 large sponges. But it did – it just took them a few minutes outside the packaging to grow to their normal size!

This sponge works! I used it to clean my kitchen walls. It does not disintegrate after a few use. Good product.

The rectangular sponge expanded on its own, but the curved one remained nearly flat for days, and even after soaking.

At first I thought I was being pranked. The sponges arrived totally flat. Flatter than a pancake...more like a crepe! I assumed soaking them in water was required. After about 4 hours in water, the sponge I experimented with had not changed at all. It's like they have some coating on it that keep it from absorbing water. Not a good sign. I started picking at it on the sides and trying to pull it apart which did have some effect. It expanded to about 1/2 inch after another couple hours. I left it in water. When I checked on it about 6 hours later, it had fluffed up around edges but the center was still hard, so I tried to pull at that but it didn't really work. Next morning, about 24 hours in, it actually looks like a sponge. I'm not sure it should be that complicated. But I'm not likely to return a wet sponge. So I will keep them, and when I have time, I'll try to expand the other one! When using the sponge, I notice liquid just runs back out really quickly. It's like it wasn't designed to hold liquid, but rather to repel it. I won't be using it for my intended purpose, which was washing walls. It would work better for horizontal surfaces I guess, like floors. Or for washing your car in the summer when you don't mind getting wet.
