One of the few plant-based protein shakes I can actually keep stocked in my fridge
I’ve tried a lot of ready-to-drink protein shakes (both dairy and plant-based), and most of them fall into one of two categories: they either taste chalky or they’re way too sweet to drink consistently. The Koia Elite Chocolate sits in a pretty rare middle ground.First impression: it actually tastes like chocolate, not “protein chocolate.” It’s rich but not candy-sweet, and there’s no strong artificial aftertaste. I usually drink it straight from the fridge post-workout or as a quick breakfast when I’m on shift, and it goes down easily without feeling heavy.Texture is smoother than I expected for something with 32g of plant protein. It’s not watery like some RTD shakes, but it’s also not thick or milkshake-like. Just a clean, drinkable consistency. I’ve had zero issues with clumping or weird separation as long as I shake it well. What I like most is the macro profile. 32g of protein with only 4g of sugar and 6g of fiber makes it feel more like an actual recovery option than a “treat.” It also keeps me full longer than I expected for a 12oz bottle, which makes it useful as a meal stand-in during busy shifts.A few honest downsides: it’s not cheap compared to powder, and the fiber content might bother some people if they’re not used to higher-fiber drinks. Also, if you prefer super thick, dessert-style shakes, this is more “functional” than indulgent.Overall, this has become my default grab-and-go protein option when I don’t feel like mixing powder or cleaning a shaker. Not perfect, but easily one of the better plant-based RTD options I’ve found.

Koia Good
I drink all of the different flavors of the Koia protein shakes. There are many flavors to choose from, but the vanilla, vanilla bean, and chocolate are my three favorites. They are all delicious in my opinion. They also offer different amounts of protein such as 12g, 16g, 20g or 32g and so forth. There are many. The choices are there depending on your goals and needs. They're great tasting and they deliver a powerful dose of clean pea plant protein containing all 9 essential amino acids and at only 4g of sugar, they are low in sugar. They are not full of fillers and preservatives and various other things like that; that many protein shakes have in them. The Koia are one of the cleanest and lowest in sugar, best tasting and highest clean protein packing with all 9 amino acid shakes on the market. It is in my opinion that these are top tier and of the best that you can buy. They are not the cheapest no matter where you find them but they are the best and you get what you pay for.

good but expensive
i love these. smooth & creamy, not too sweet, so much protein. i wish i could drink these every day but they're so expensive. i wish they would go on sale. i could justify a daily koia elite at $40 per 12 pack but $50 is just so much.

Thick and chalky
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I had high hopes for the Koia Protein Shake, but unfortunately, it missed the mark in several key areas. The taste is overwhelmingly unpleasant—far from the rich, smooth chocolate flavor you’d expect. Instead, it has a bitter, artificial aftertaste that lingers far too long. The texture is another major issue. The shake is extremely thick—almost sludge-like—and the protein doesn’t seem to dissolve well at all. It leaves a chalky, gritty mouthfeel that makes it hard to finish even half the bottle. It’s more of a chore than a treat. If you’re looking for a smooth, tasty, and drinkable protein shake, I’d recommend steering clear of this one. There are far better options on the market that offer quality nutrition and a palatable experience.
