I'm in love! Fits like a glove!
They listened and they dramatically improved this line. The shoe immediately feels like it was made for your foot the second you put it on. No hard encumbering ach, no more narrow midsole like on previous models, and they also increased the toe box ceiling which was a real problem on previous models. If you know, you know. This shoe solves all the previous problems and it feels great the second you put it on. The nice wide laces are a great touch. Fantastic Build. You probably want to order size 10.5 if you're average adult male height/build. I had to wait a bit extra for that size but well worth the wait.

Great Quality shoes
I do not review products unless they are excellent and these Altra trail shoes fit the bill. I love the majority of Altra shoes. These are my new favorites. Walk or jogging. Heavy duty materials. Zero drop is great for my back and hips and the arch support is superb. These look great too. I would recommend some scotchguard if walking in sand muddy conditions.

One of the better shoes on the market.
One of the best shoes that I have had. I don't use these for what they are intended for as far as running. I had a osteotomy gone wrong. I have to have great support and stability in my shoes to help my knee not hurt. And these do what they I need. These are my second pair. They ahold up extremely well. I bought this before the new model came out. I do intend on trying the new model and I expect they will be just as good hopefully better!!!

Altra fan that isn't a fan
I really wanted to love these shoes. Would have been my 6-7th pair of Altras. Having had a pair of Olympus 4 and two pair of Olympus 5, I expected these to be an improvement. Yeah, not so much. Construction looked fine but the fit was all wrong. Your calcaneus, the bone in the back of your foot that makes the round part of your heel, should have a pocket that keeps the shoe from slipping up and down. They added a pad on the inside of the back of the shoe, which hits in precisely the wrong place. The new pad actually prevents the shoe from grabbing onto your heel, letting it slip up and down on flat ground through the standard gait cycle. I imagine uneven terrain would make it much more pronounced. Raise the pad an inch or so and they'd be on point.

Great shoes for the long haul
I have run over 100 miles in both the Altra Olympus 6 as well as the Altra Lone Peak 7 and while both are great shoes, I think they serve different purposes. The Lone Peak is great for that ground contact feel on more technical trails where if you do roll an ankle, there’s less distance to travel to the ground and you might absorb it better and pop back up. The lesser stack height lets you feel trails a bit better and I think find your footing a bit better. However, with that lower stack height, it can sometimes be a bit tiring on your feet after more than 15-20 or so miles in my experience. The Olympus on the other hand is an ultra marathon beast that has a very grippy sole that is comfortable for a very long haul. If you’re doing longer and less technical routes like gravel, then it’s a great shoe that is comfy for a long time. However, in my experience, the Olympus is too tall of a shoe for more technical trails and actually led me to spraining my ankle multiple times during a race when I should’ve worn the Lone Peaks because of wet and technical trails. Both good shoes, I just think you have to know what trails you’re running and which shoe in your rotation makes the most sense. The star off is because Altra cannot figure out their own sizing and I had to size up a half size in the Olympus because the toe-box was too short otherwise. I am a 10.5 in Lone Peaks and 11 in Olympus for reference.

Comfortable
Comfortable shoe, replacing old hiking boots. So far so good. Wore them on a short trail to break in. Headed to a leg of the A.T. this weekend Will follow up on it's durability and longterm comfort

Size 14
Slight break in but they are great! Conquered the Grouse Grind in these. Fit me better than the lone peaks. Size 14 in Olympus fits perfectly, lone peak 14 feels slightly bigger

Great Trail Shoe at Reduced Price
Excellent shoes from Altra. This is my second pair. I couldn't resist the lower price after the newer version was recently released. Highly recommended.

Buen producto
