I bought the Kelty Cosmic Down 20 for fall backpacking trips and so far it has totally exceeded expectations. It kept me warm in temps down to the high 20s °F with just a base layer and a decent sleeping pad. The down insulation lofts up nicely, and I really like the hood and draft collar features—little things that make a big difference on cold nights. It packs down smaller than I expected (fits in my 50L pack with room to spare), and for the price, this is probably one of the best value down bags out there. It's not ultralight, but it's light enough for most weekend or multi-day hikes. Only downside is the mummy shape is a bit snug if you toss and turn. But the footbox has enough space and I still slept comfortably. Highly recommend for 3-season use if you want warmth and quality without breaking the bank.

Looking for a reliable and comfy sleeping bag that won't break the bank? Look no further than the Kelty Cosmic 20°! This down-filled wonder has been my trusty companion on countless camping trips, and I'm here to tell you why it deserves a spot in your backpack. Warmth you can count on: 550 fill power down: Lofty and toasty, this bag kept me snug as a bug in a rug even on chilly fall nights. Trapezoidal baffles: These clever pockets keep the down evenly distributed, preventing cold spots and maximizing warmth. Comfort that lulls you to sleep: Spacious interior: I never felt constricted, even tossing and turning like a human pretzel. Soft lining: The fabric is gentle against your skin, making it a pleasure to drift off to sleep. Natural-fit footbox: No more cramped toes! This roomy design lets you wiggle your feet freely for ultimate comfort. Lightweight and packable: Compresses down small: Easily stashed in my pack, leaving plenty of room for other gear. Durable ripstop nylon shell: Tough enough to handle the wilderness without weighing you down. A few things to consider: True to its 20° rating: While I was comfy down to the mid-40s, it might not be warm enough for true winter camping. No bells and whistles: This is a basic bag, so if you need features like a draft collar or integrated pillow, you might want to look elsewhere. Overall, the Kelty Cosmic 20° is a fantastic value for the price. It's warm, comfortable, and packs down small, making it a great choice for three-season adventurers. If you're on a budget or just starting out, this bag is a sure winner. Happy camping! I hope this short review helps you decide if the Kelty Cosmic 20° is the right sleeping bag for you. Sweet dreams!

When planning for a backpacking trip I needed something more compact. My previous mummy bag was synthetic, 30 degree rated, and took up too much room in my pack. Did some research and this was smaller, lighter, rated 10 degrees warmer, and fit my budget. Down packs incredibly easy, I’ve come to find out, so packing it away is so much easier than synthetics. The bag itself is very comfortable. I appreciate the two way zipper with the option of opening from the bottom. This bag kept me very warm (granted it was only low 40s on my first use). Built in hood was also very warm and comfy, actually made my inflatable pillow more bearable too. Recommended product.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Pretty good quality. Easy to pack into the small stuff sack. I am happy with the size and weight. Its great for weather down into the 50s (F) for me if I have some layers on. Once its in the 40s though I double up on the sleeping bags. I’ll be looking for a new bag for winter camping because this one just doesn’t quite cut it. I like it as a 3 season bag though and would recommend for this purpose.

I purchased the short version and was worried it may be too short as I am 5’6”, I am pleased to say it was perfect for me, however I wouldn’t go with this version if you are taller than 5’6”. The bag is very soft and comfortable against your skin, the zipper was easy to actuate with no hang ups, and very impressed with how small this thing compacts for a 20 degree bag. I used this bag in 48 degree weather and I was wayyy too warm, had to unzip and get some cool air. I wouldn’t hesitate to take this bag down to the 30’s . All in all I am very pleased with this purchase, especially a down bag in this price range I think you will be hard pressed to beat the Kelty cosmic down 20.
