Updated review - My generator is new and has about 200 hours on it. I had been using Rotella oil in this generator and the one it replaced and both generators used less than quart in the 100 hours between oil changes. For my most recent oil change I decided to try Onan oil. I was a little surprised when after 24 hours the oil was down nearly a quart. However after adding about a pint of oil the next next time I checked the generator it was a bit overfilled. Apparently this oil, even when hot, drains back into the pan slowly. That's a good thing since it means it's clinging to the lubricated components but you probably need to wait a good 15 to 30 minutes before checking the oil level after shutting the generator off.

This is the best oil for my Onan 5500 generator in my motorhome. Generator does not use any oil during the 250 runtime, with other oils the generator used some during that same period.
