Amazing lock, but takes practice to use.
A few months back I was at my Globo-Gyms in one of the shadier areas of town, and I got a notice from my bank that someone had tried to use my debit card at a gas station. I finished up my set and went and saw that my flimsy combo lock had been busted and my bag stolen-- including my wallet. I'm still trying to replace my RealId. I did some research and found this lock from Commando Lock. It has mixed reviews, but I feel like most of the negatives can be mitigated. Despite being reasonably compact, this lock is heavy, like you could put it in a sock and use it as a deadly weapon. The shackle guard makes it incredibly hard to cut, and it also blocks access to the vulnerable part of the lock where the shackle enters the body. While you can technically leave the shackle guard off, I don't recommend it, as it greatly decreases a lot of the security of the lock when you do. The key part is also very secure-- but it's where the biggest caveat of this lock comes in. It takes some practice to use, because you have to turn the key twice to get the lock open and detach the shackle from the lock. I recommend, as soon as you get this lock, play around with it, and practice unlocking it. There are videos on YouTube discussing A. How thief resistant this lock is B. how to use it. It has a learning curve, but once you get it, you can open and close it pretty quickly. You don't want to use it without getting some practice in, especially if you're in a hurry to get it open. Overall, I really love this lock. I feel like I can leave my expensive laptop, wallet, and even passport in a locker for a 90-minute-long workout session without having to worry about it getting broken into-- I think a thief would have to break the actual physical locker before they're going to get past the lock. Your average gym locker thief isn't looking to spend 20 minutes getting into a locker, they're going to go to your neighbor's locker that has a cheap luggage combo lock before they go for yours.

Very Secure
I've been using these locks for a bit now and they have performed well. Some users have reported difficulties with opening and even broken keys. It is true that these locks don't open as easily as a standard padlock but that's kind of the point. Isn't it? To open you turn the key clockwise about a quarter turn or so. That releases the shackle. Then you turn the lock around 180 degrees and turn the key back to the starting position and about a quarter turn anti clockwise. At this point the lock should come free of the shackle completely. To relock it simply do the steps in reverse. If you want the lock to function like a regular padlock simply remove the guard from the shackle and use as you normally would. Pros: A hard steel guard covers most of the shackle making cutting the lock off much more difficult. The complex unlocking sequence, while only somewhat cumbersome with the key, is a nightmare for picking (I've tried it). Cons: The lock has a learning curve but honestly not more than a few minutes of practice. Once you get it it's a piece of cake 🎂. The lock is probably a higher carbon steel. while this is good for cutting resistance it does make it more prone to rusting and if used outdoors will need periodic cleaning and maintenance. (I flush the lock with carburetor cleaner and swap with a cotton swab, then give it a generous lubrication with WD-40 or some equivalent)

Nice well made lock, tricky to use at times
This lock has a bit of learning curve to use. Well made and sturdy with as much protection as needed to discourage most common thieves. Once you get the process of assembling and locking the lock there is no issue with use and locking only takes a few more seconds as compared to a standard keyed lock.

Commando Lock Total Guard High Security iCHANGE
Sent me a used defective lock with rust, gouged up and the keys would not release. I purchased a new lock not a used lock! Extremely disappointing, I now have to return the lock! However, the lock is high security and high quality, if it has not been previously used, I would have kept the lock. Will not work on a hasp that is 1/2" wide horizontally.

Great, expandable lock!
I just used this on a 1,000 mile move with a 26' Penske. I was able to use the lock on the truck but had to remove the collar for it to fit. It didn't seem to make much of a difference though because it was easy to remove and there really wouldn't be enough clearance for bolt cutters. This lock is better than I thought it was. The description isn't clear about the the availability of accessories like a longer shackle, cables, or collars which makes this lock versatile beyond the original purchase. Major bonus. I can justify the cost of the lock since I can continue using the lock after the move. This lock weighs a couple pounds and is somewhat challenging to pick, at least according to the YT videos I've seen, providing me some peace of mind during the move. As for the reviews about the difficulty of use. It's not rocket science. Read the instructions and you'll be able to operate the lock. It's very clever actually Even if the lock is picked, it would have to be picked twice to remove the shackle and unlock it. Maybe if they have very specialized gear but then the lock probably wasn't going to stop them anyway. You may fumble around with turning the key the opposite direction to remove the shackle if you find yourself at gun point, but then I'd say you have bigger issues. Overall, fantastic lock for a reasonable price. You'll have this for a very long time.

Great Lock Once You Figure it Out
Takes a while to get the hang of it because you have to take the lock apart to use it. Once you figure it out (instructions were not very clear) it becomes much easier. The lock itself is very sturdy!

A USED lock was sent loose in a flimsy, non-padded envelope, obviously a USED lock as it has no packaging. 1 corner of the envelope was not sealed, the keys were dropped outside. Everything was left outside the house and did not even have the decency to press the doorbell.
