Simple, effective, and inexpensive
Buying this and a $130 print job from FedEx Office (Kinkos) beats a lot of the other retractable banner stand options out there that I could find. It was very easy to attach the banner to this stand and seemed very sturdy. My banner stand looked just as good as anyone else's at the last expo, but it was probably two-thirds the price.

Great quality! Will buy more :)
We love these stands for our company. They are easy to carry into trade shows and very easy to setup. Our graphic designer can easily change out the graphics whenever we need her to. It only takes about 20 min to replace the image once it's printed. We print all our banners in house and it's very easy to design what we want. Just be careful and don't get into a rush when you are setting one of these up. The retractors are fairly strong and if you're not prepared they can retract quickly and hard. Overall, we give these stands 5 stars! Great quality, not cheap metal, and easy to use/setup.

Terrible
These banner stands are fairly inexpensive. I put together a lot of banners for seminars and trade shows and while these aren't the most sturdy stands, they're great for a couple of uses. My biggest complaint would be the little rod that holds the banner up. It's got a twist-lock mechanism. It's nice, but a little overkill for a banner stand and just makes for a bulkier package. It's a small quibble and not worth losing a star over. It's nice, just not really necessary. Otherwise, these things are great. I've bout about 8 of them and plan to keep buying them as I need them. *** UPDATE *** After just a few uses, the little plastic tips at the top of the banner stand have a tendency to fall off or crack, which makes the whole stand useless. I wouldn't ever recommend these stands.

and I am so glad that I did
I bought this to go with my vertical vistaprint banner, and I am so glad that I did. The only drawback was that I had to watch a youtube channel to learn how to put it together because there are no instructions or references sent to tell you how to do it. (which is why I gave this item a 4 star) Here is one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da86nXAbAwQ Here is their video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj_M0K5ybWI

This stand is awesome and super easy to set up
This stand is awesome and super easy to set up. It doesn't come with directions but there is a video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc7IMJaMqUk. It took minutes to set up and looks great! I just set it up so who knows how it will hold up, but for now I love it! My banner is from Vistaprint and it's the thinner material that would crease easily, not the sturdy outdoor thick material. Works perfect for this stand.

Get a Friend and Some Mover's Tape
I sell cheesecakes at a green market and needed a sign holder that could be put up and taken down quickly while not breaking the bank. This fits the bill perfectly. But I suggest that you watch the instructional video on YouTube a few times before proceeding with the installation. Essentially you will have to tape the bottom of your sign onto a plastic film that comes preloaded in the canister. This can be a bit tricky if the sign is not as wide as the plastic film because you will wind up with stickiness on either end, which complicates the process. The top of your sign slips into a separate metal strip. This is pretty easy but requires you to first remove the plastic caps on each end, which you will replace once you slide your sign in. I suggest that you pick up some clear mover's tape (for the bottom) and enlist the help of a friend before loading your sign. I would definitely recommend this product.

Retractable Stand works awesome
It worked perfectly for my uses. I found it helpful from other reviews about keys to assembling the banner. It is a bit confusing and would be much better with SOME instructions. Odd they send no instructions with the stand.

I ran into some issues which consumed a lot of time and I wasn't ready for the guests when they showed up at my table - totally
This was exactly what I needed for my vertical banner to display at events. I had some issues, likely user error. Just a couple things to be aware of. The caps on either side of the top part tend to fall off a lot. Luckily I haven't lost them yet but came close a few times. When attaching the banner to the stand, I don't recall having many problems. I went to the website and watched the instructional video which was very helpful. When I got to the event, and had very little time to set up, I ran into some issues which consumed a lot of time and I wasn't ready for the guests when they showed up at my table - totally my fault but would have been nice to not have to hassle with this for so long. User error, I realized we attached the top piece backwards when I couldn't connect it to the pole piece. I took the top piece off and lost grip of the banner which abruptly rolled up into the base. Had to loosen the screw to open it up slightly so I could reach in there and grab the edge of the banner. Then I had the top piece upside down and it wasn't gripping the banner tightly, and it kept slipping off. A person that was trying to help me said we need to fold the top of the banner down to create a thicker edge for it to grip better. I thought that was odd since it gripped it fine before! The other person left and I finally realized I had the darn thing upside down, more user error! I got it set up and it worked well. However, as I was breaking down, the base stopped accepting the banner when there was still at least 12 inches exposed. It just would not take anymore of it, and it's supposed to feed into the base until the top piece and the base touch. I kept pulling it out and re-rolling it in, hoping maybe the banner just got pulled in on an angle but after ensuring the banner was going in as straight as possible, it still would not take in the last foot of banner space. I had to wrap the remaining banner around the base to store it. So part user error with my set up issues, but that last part not rolling in is a bit irritating. It's still usable and serves it's purpose so I really have no other complaints. Keep in mind this is meant for indoor use, but I need it at my outdoor events too, which tend to get windy so I have to keep the stand feet secure by placing my suitcase on them. It still blows back, but the suitcase keeps it from blowing away! This is not an issue with product, as it's not meant for outdoor use. It should be fine outdoors without wind.
