I first came across the Pilot G-Tec-C ultra fine pens when studying abroad in both the 0.3mm and 0.4mm varieties. I've always had super-small handwriting (my 6th grade teacher bought a magnifying glass to read my essays, but that's neither here nor there!) and the usual 0.5mm and 0.7mm pens just resulted in illegible handwriting as the writing was pretty much running into itself at that size. There are very, very few rolling ball pens out there that are actually *smooth* at 0.3mm (or, in this case, 0.4mm) - most tend to be scratchy and you feel that you're etching and engraving your words into the paper, tearing it as you write: these, I'm glad to say, are the exception. Unfortunately, it's rather hard to find these in the United States, and you're going to pay the premium for it. Overseas I could just walk into a store and buy a few black and blue pens as I have absolutely no use for purple, red, and green; however, it's a small price to pay for a pen that literally lasts years if you take good care of it. Be warned, there's a fairly high DOA rate for these pens. I'd say somewhere around 10% will just stop working within a month of use - when you're dealing with this size, any imperfections will result in a stoppage, but those that last will keep going to the last drop and I have a pen here on my desk that I've been using for over 3 years now and it's still going strong. The downside is that at this size, the needles are, as you can probably imagine, ridiculously fragile. If you work in a non-carpeted environment, one drop to the floor is enough to guarantee a one-way trip to the garbage bin as the needles will instantly bend beyond repair from a mere 2- or 3-foot drop. So, you're probably looking at this review and saying "some of these pens are DOA, you drop them once and they're goners, they're expensive and hard to find.. and he's giving it five stars?" Yes, absolutely. These pens are amazing, and well worth it. If you have small handwriting or you do fine line work (architecture, drawing, etc), these are a must-have - like I said, I have yet to find another 0.3mm or 0.4mm ball pen on the market that can match their fluidity and perfection. Best pen for sketching and best value for money. If yiu want to sketch etc this is the best pen for you! Plus it comes jna. Nice carrying case. First time buying a pilot pen, would highly recommend!

I usually use pilot G2 .38mm pens, but this brand makes even smaller point pens so I thought I'd try the .3mm. They write very smoothly and don't appear to have the problem where the tip breaks like occasionally happens with the G2s. The first thing I noticed is that they seem to be thinner than the G2s and feel more delicate than the G2s firmer barrels. These pens also have a cap, so I need to be very careful about not losing them because somewhere I read that they do dry out (and sometimes when I first start to use the ink, I need to write for a bit to get the ink going, which can be a pain if I'm writing very little). Another difference is that the G2s have a comfort grip for writing a lot, whereas these don't. I did find it to hurt my hands more than my G2s did after a long period (several hours) of continuous writing. The writing size looks about the same between my G2s and these pens, but I noticed my G2s have a visibly darker color in black (I didn't notice any difference between the green, red, and blue colors of each). Also these pens have purple which isn't a color option for the G2 .38s. Overall, I'll probably stick with my G2s because I can get them discounted in local stores, but these are a great option as well, especially if you try to color code your work and need/want that extra color provided with the G-Tec-Cs. Hopefully Pilot will eventually release more colors of small nib sizes.

Here I go again, I am going to review this godly made pen but I'll try not to be biased (or worse fangirl) in this review: Anyway! First of all, let me state the facts about the Pilot G-Tec pens. They are all about precision and smooth fine writing. Tells everything about how great a pen is right? That's not just it. This pen is not only for fine writing but is basically for technical purposes. Yes, you are thinking right. People with technical careers like architecture or engineering uses this kind of pen, even artists, because of how this pen works well in technical stuff. So, it's fine if you use it for your daily use (with caution, why? You'll know later) but this pen could do so much more. And if you're buying this sort-of expensive pen, it would be more better for that reason. Do not even start with it's pen life, this thing can last, and when I say last, I mean like about 5-6 months or more (depends on the user) which if you think about it, is a very great investment. Now we covered the great things about this pen, let me talk about the downside. It's not really a downside of it uses (because it is nor lacking at it) but it comes down HOW YOU TAKE CARE of it. This pen would demand more care than any random and basic pen lying around. This pen? When this baby falls from a table or from anything that would make it shake violently? IT WILL PROBABLY 90% WOULD NEVER WORK ANYMORE. It's that sensitive, I'm sorry. It's not really it's fault but because of it's tip, thought promising, is really easily breakable. And once that breaks? You can just either buy a refill for lower expense. There are people who'll try to revive it but it's really hard, you'll just a hard time on your hand. Now citing that stuff, my advice to you is that if you want to buy this pen, be cautious and more careful around the pen. That's why the pen's cap always remind you to CLOSE it whenever you do not use it, because even the makers know how the probability of it living from a accident is fatal and would just cause you more big bucks (for a pen). Also, if you are buying this pen for the heck of it, do check other more basic pens before looking this way because like I said, this pen is more useful in technical way than just a writing pen. (Not that I am discouraging you, but you get what I mean.)

A small but mighty pen tip... I'm used to using Micron 005 series 0.2mm but it's not a ball point out a gel pen... This Pilot G-Tec-C 0.25mm pen is worth it. The pen tip doesn't like the rice grain, but as you'll see in the video, it did actually write pretty well... If you need accuracy, and micro notation, or a Bible liner (although I personally would not write essays in your Bible with this...) or when you're allowed to cram all your notes on to a 3x5 note card for an open note test... ;) this pen could be the hero that saves the day... Highly recommend for fine details in art, or music correction for performers of sheet music, or study enthusiasts of any kind, or just to impress your buddies when you need to show them a secret message on a rice grain...

I am in heaven! As a leftie, southpaw, I've dragged side of my left palm over ink, pencils, charcoal, paint, pastels, you name it, for decades. I use the Pilot G-2 .38 blue pen for everything. But alas, it smeared in my new printed planner. I spent HOURS reading reviews on Amazon. Finally someone mentioned these pens. Although listed as .4 mm, they are far thinner than the other .38 pen. I've Micron and other pens, all much thicker than these pens, despite the numbering. Lesson learned: like women's clothing, pen sizes are simply not standardized. Or maybe the tips are, but the way the ink flows means some spread far more than others. I never, and I mean, ever, ever use black pens because they smear. Ok, sharpies don't smear, but they are not good for regular writing paper (I use to sign my photos for customers). But these black pens are delightful! Whatta sweet surprise! I don't normally use colored pens, but figured I'd give them a try to help me be more organized using my planner. To my delight, all the colors are vivid and strong. No smearing, thinnest lines of ink, great colors: who could ask for anything more? (I've not tried these with painting yet. I've wanted a fine line pen to use with watercolors. But that is not as important as merely being able to be more organized by writing more of my to-do with flowing, thin lines of ink. Yay! I cannot rate longevity because I just bought them, but I think the pens should last a long time, if anything like the G-2 gel pens.)

Randomly bought one in Israel last year and now I decided I want more! It lasted me a whole year and i can still use it but because it worked so well for me I just had to have more. I just wish Amazon would offer the finer ones as add-ons or at least as single ones as well but that has nothing to do with the product itself or the quality of it. The lines are crisp, deep black and of course very fine. Every artist should have one of these! (edit) Just bought another package for a friend and I am currently still using the one I bought in Israel...it lasts for so long!!

Package came and the box itself was slightly opened. Idk why, prolly from shipping. 1 box, 12 pens (1 dozen). I tried each one and so far everything is fine. I really love G-tec 0.3 mm. In fact, it's the only pen I use. Tho a little bit expensive compared to others, Gtec is definitely worth it. Perfect if you want a clean notebook, or records needed to be written in a very small space on the paper, and for laboratory notebooks. Non-erasable, does not bleed at the back of most of the notebooks, and does not feather. Very fine edges. This is my fave pen for the last 10 years I swear.
