Seed Needs Wild Creeping Thyme Seeds to Plant Groundcover Flowers 2 Packs

UPDATE June 2022 - Last year I was very unhappy (see my 2021 complaint below). This year I noticed beautiful, large patches of thyme. It took an entire season to establish (I live in MN). Wish I had known before I left a negative review. Prepare the area to be planted and be patient. I planted two bags of seeds in a freshly tilled area after the last freeze. Was excited when I saw groups of plants pushing through the soil. All turned out to be clover. Not a single thyme seed germinated. Lots of clover though. Almost as if it was clover that was sown. 40,000 seeds without a single thyme plant. What are the odds?

The seeds I received did grow a variety of thyme, and it does spread, but it also gets taller than expected and has white flowers, not purple. It has to be at least 8 in tall, I cut it shorter periodically and it survives this well. Now that it's a few years old I noticed it's getting "woody" stems near the bottom, it almost forms a net of stems, if I cut it back significantly I see that it's only in the ground in the areas I originally planted the seed pod. I'm happy enough with it bc it worked as a needed ground cover, but I feel deceived/disappointed it is not the plant pictured.

Planting Zone 4a. I started these seeds in my AeroGarden; and then transplanted them to a bare, sunny spot in our yard. Slow grower, takes about 8-10 weeks to get a good plug though, so start early before last frost.

I bought these to seed around the back of my pool deck. Unfortunately, we got very little germination even though they were planted in an ideal spot for this species.

I picked up these Wild Creeping Thyme Seeds from Seed Needs to use as groundcover in my garden, and they’ve worked out great. The packets came with a generous amount of seeds, more than enough for my project and some to share with friends. The detailed sowing information on the packet made planting straightforward, and the beautiful illustration was a nice touch. I followed the instructions and saw germination within days, which was very encouraging. The seeds were fresh and well-packaged in tear-resistant and moisture-resistant packets, ensuring they stayed in good condition. I appreciate that these seeds are heirloom and open-pollinated, with no GMO products. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I had a few spots where the seeds didn’t take as well as I hoped. However, that could be due to my soil conditions rather than the seeds themselves. Overall, I’m happy with the results and would recommend these seeds for anyone looking to add some lovely groundcover to their garden.
