Does this cut the foil?

It definitely cuts the foil. The curved blade is designed to contour to the curve of the bottle (not perfectly, but as much as you would want). With this wine key, I can cut the foil in 2 cuts, vs 3 with most wine keys.

Treat yourself to a good corkscrew!

This just plain works well. I've had a few cheap corkscrews in my time that were adequate. And unless you're opening LOTS of bottles, face it, you don't need a fancy corkscrew. But if you'd like a corkscrew that's durable, works well and looks good, splurge and get this for about the same as a decent bottle of wine.

Great quality

I work as a server, so this is one of my tools of trade. I’ve had loads of different wine knives, but this is easily the best. It’s comfortable in the hand, inserts into a cork without effort and pulls out smoothly. I’m a small person, without much muscle power, but this makes it simple.
