What parts are luminescent? It looks like the hands are not. Is the light the only way to see the time in the dark?

There are no luminescent parts on the watch. The light IS the only way to see the time if it's totally dark. However, I would say that in LOW LIGHT conditions, the time is easier to read than some other watches I have, because of the sharp contrast between the black hands and the light background. Also, note that the button that activates the light is large and easy at find in the dark at the 3 o'clock position. And, finally, when the light IS used it fully and evenly illuminates the entire face of the watch. Some watches I have seem to have a point source that doesn't illuminate the whole face. This watch does a good job of evenly lighting the entire face.

Does this have a stop watch / timer function?

No, but it is a great watch for a very low price. The dial lights up with a push-button, there is a second hand, and it's easy to set the time. Besides, it's a Casio, and that's a good brand at a very decent price. Use your smartphone if you need a timer and stopwatch.

Can i buy new watch works? How much?

If you need to replace the ''works'' just buy a new watch. and by the way ,this watch is awesome!!
