Wow, what a mighty air conditioner!
This 5,000 BTU window air conditioner is definitely worth the money. I might have paid $150 plus $20 in taxes. It was money well spent. It works great on the hot summer days. I use a fan to circulate the air in the room. Noise level is minimum. The design is very good. It's made well and sturdy. It comes with the little white expander thing for the window, which helps it fit. It does come with a remote, but I haven't had to use it. My bed is right beside it, so I touch the air conditioner itself to change the functions. The filter is easy to clean. It wasn’t very hard for my husband to install. Actually, rather easy. Its functionality is simple and easy to use. Snowflake is for air conditioning; the fan symbol is for the fan. I think it has a filter option and an eco setting, which is helpful. Small size, but it does put out a good bit of cold air. Super happy I found this one.

good purchase
Glad I made this purchase. I put it in my bedroom window. It blows straight toward the door which is at the end of the hall which is at a right angle from where the ac is. To help cool the rest of the house, I place a small fan in the floor blowing down the hall. I can feel the cool air in the living room which is 20 feet away. There are 2 other rooms with doors close to my bedroom door. They benefit from the cool air also. Don't get me wrong, it does not cool the whole house to 72 but it helps quite a bit. I don't run my whole house ac except once in a while and mostly to take the humidity out of the house. It's been more humid but cooler than normal here this year (2026), highs reaching only to 86 usually, with a day or two going a little higher. Hopefully my power bill will reflect enough savings to warrant me ordering another one of these little gems. ( I ordered the ac in 2025 but didn't install it till the first of July 2026)

For keeping guests cool while they sleep...
Although I have HVAC, I put this in my 127 sq ft guest room, as some of them prefer to sleep cooler than I keep the house. I have set it up so that it is easily installed/removed (10 minutes). It does cool the air well, however, it loses a star because it lacks the ability to direct airflow up - the air can only be directed side to side. It also loses a star because of the flimsy, energy inefficient accordion "wings". (Then again, that's pretty much the norm for every window AC unit I've ever had) I removed those and created custom solid panels from 1/2" birch ply, edged with foam weather strip, which make it much more weather tight now. It does make a fair bit of noise at low fan, much more so at high fan. The biggest plus that gains a star back would be the remote - it works easily and well, and guests will find it very convenient. Overall, a reasonable purchase.

Excellent cooling, compact, and easy to install
I've been using this Midea 5,000 BTU air conditioner for a while now, and the experience has been excellent. It cools down a small room in just a few minutes and maintains a very comfortable temperature without consuming too much energy. Installation was super straightforward. Plus, the noise level is quite low compared to other similar models, making it easy to sleep or work quietly without disturbance. Highly recommended for its quality and value!

Customer service is a 1
I bought this reconditioned Midea window AC unit. I bougnht it in September for use the next summer because I am on a budget and need to spread out purchases. I opened it to make sure it wasn't totally broken. It looked to be in one piece. I went to install it because I have renters coming. The top rail was squished. You need it not to be squished because you need to slide the accordian sides into it to fit the window. Unfortunately, not only could I not attached the right side, but I got 2 left sides anyway which are not interchangeable. Then there is customer service. I got disconnected from chat twice. Then I called. The woman was polite but it was hard to understand her with her accent. When I had gotten almost go the end of the second chat before losing the chat, the woman showed me a parts list, and I determined that I needed part 7 and 10. I told the woman over the phone the parts I needed with the corresponding number. She had no idea what I was talking about. So, who knows if I am going to get any of the parts before I need them. It was so frustrating:( I have been happy with Midea products, I always buy them, but I never had a problem with my order before. I may go with another company in the future.

Works great!
Installed it as soon as we got it. Went into the window easily. It is heavy though, so a strong person has to do it. It blew out cold air immediately after turning it on. It is in my son's small bedroom and he likes his room cold, so he's very happy with it.He keeps it at 62 degrees. To me his room is freezing.

Decent Cooling, But Noisy and Questionable Longevity
Installation was quick and painless, and the unit is a good fit for a small bedroom. Cooling performance is just okay... not amazing, but it gets the job done. The real issue is the noise. It's loud, and not just in a typical hum-and-whir way. It makes strange, watery splashing sounds and other odd noises that don’t inspire confidence. Honestly, it has me wondering how long it’ll last. I’m not bothering with customer service... I’ve heard it’s a dead end, and I don’t have the patience to deal with it. If this thing gives out, I’ll probably go with a Whirlpool like I should have in the first place. The remote is a nice idea in theory, but the execution is clunky. It has separate settings from the unit itself, and you have to manually turn the remote on and off. It’s a weird, unintuitive setup. Bottom line: it cools, but it’s noisy, awkward to use, and I’m not convinced it’ll go the distance.
