Hilarious and perfect for performer types!
As a performer (with lots of equally dramatic friends), this game is a total winner! It’s such a clever mix of bluffing and improvisation — we end up in stitches every time. It’s quick to learn, super portable, and absolutely brilliant for group hangouts or post-dinner chaos. You really have to think on your feet and commit to the bit, which makes it perfect for theatrical types, but honestly, anyone can enjoy it. We’ve even played it on a train! Always guaranteed laughs and “how did you not know it was me?!” outrage. Perfect for any occasion!

Needs at least six players
If you like charades this is a fun alternative but IMO it needs at least six players to work well - the more the merrier - fewer than six and the Pretender has fewer clues and difficulty in deducing the subject and is more easily identified. I've given it four stars for the concept but the 'product' is overpriced - it would be better value at half the price (but then it wouldn't make as much profit for the seller)

Best game, ever!
Perfect for dinner parties or restaurant evenings out. It's so quick and easy. Everyone rolls around laughing every time. A great ice breaker :-)

Awesome game great at brining people together to have a bit of fun!
We played this at a recent family gathering and it was just great! One person doesn't usually like board games because they can be long and boring, but even they found the rapid pace and mixture of solo / collaborative play refreshing with The Pretender. The game is perfect for a dinner party in that it is easy to start and stop e.g. between courses and you can play as few or many rounds as you want. There is a wide variety of categories and we found we weren't too bothered about overall scoring across the rounds avoiding this becoming too competitive. We included some additional rules in the way we played the game to make it even better e.g. said you weren't allowed to copy previous charades. Don't be deterred if the instructions seem a little bit difficult to get your head around - once you've played a round everyone will get it!

Great combination of deception & party games
Loved the look of this game, and after having read that it was similar to Spyfall (which I love and is my ‘go-to’ to play with non-gamers) and Chameleon (which I want to love but just doesn’t work quite as well as Spyfall), I was very much looking forward to trying it out. I bought it as a gift for a fellow Spyfall fan and we tried it out with 4 of us playing. The gameplay is much more straightforward than Chameleon - rather than having to roll dice and refer to a grid, the choice of ‘secret word’ is decided by a player randomly calling a number out (not dissimilar to Randomise, made by the same company). The miming element adds an extra later of fun and hilarity, and leaves much more opportunity for ambiguity, making it easier as ‘the pretender’ to blag that you know what’s going on. A really fun party game that I can easily imagine introducing to all the family or groups of non-gamers, or a fun starter game for a games night. Would also recommend their other new game - Soundiculous!

Great game but limited lifespan
We have had some good times playing this game. I think it needed more cards or something to keep it fresher for longer as when you own the game and played it a few times, the mimes that you see people come up with get similar and easier to be the pretender.

Wow do my kids love this game!! They just want to play it over and over. I wish there were more cards (we’ve been through all of the cards a couple times), but my kids don’t mind repeating the cards and like to play this all the time. They are 13, 11 and 8 and all three of them love the game. They are big fans of the imposter game so that might be one of the reasons they like this so much. But we always have a blast and laugh a lot while playing.

Really nice game something unique that i have never seen such kind of game before. Initially it hard to play and don’t know what to do but eventually after playing 2-3 round it was kinda easy. Fun to play within a group of 4-6 people. 2 people is not much fun. I wish they keep some more categories because after sometimes you ran out cards. But overall good. We played many times with our friends and they like it too.

100% recomendable

I bought this for my family for Christmas, they loved it. We had alot of fun playing, if you like social deduction games that are quick and easy this is the one for you. The only thing i would suggest it for it to be available for more that 6 players, however because is it a charades type game you can team up.
