Elements of Parametric Design

This book does a great job of explaining parametric modeling and its potential and current uses. The author speaks honestly about how current and future designers can/will/may use programing, geometry and math to create and solve problems. He does a great job of breaking this down. I feel the topic is so broad and has so much depth that any reader will want to purchase and read many books that intertwine with the topic (which the author lists a few recommendations). The topic is made of of multiple subjects and I think this book does a great job and should be part of a collection of books on the topic. I highly recommend this book to any person interested in parametric modeling.

This book is the best reference for parametric design that I have found after a two year search. The chapter on programming alone is worth the cost of the book, because it helped me to understand the basic concepts of programming without the normal confusion. Start with this book for a strong foundation. It uses GC for the examples, but once you understand the concepts Revit and Vasari make so much more sense in terms of mass creation and editing. It allows you to dictate how the software behaves instead of just reacting to it's demands.

It's a comprehensive compilation of concepts related to parametrics. Topics are clearly explained. Not related with a specific digital tool. (It's not a software handbook).

The book sounds friendly in describing fundamentals of parametric design. Given examples and suggested references are very helpful.

En general me parece un muy buen libro, contiene lo que necesitaba para introducir a la materia. Buscaba un libro que me explicara la conexión entre las matemáticas y el diseño paramétrico.

Excellent book and well written. But it's a theoretical approach to parametric design. What I needed was a practical guide to good parametric design. I did return this but would recommend it if you knew this was what you wanted.
