Easy to operate.
Love my new Brother sewing machine. I had a beginner Brother with no bells or whistles so this one is fantastic. I'm no expert and still learning to sew but this machine makes sewing so much easier to understand.

Th best sewing machine i have had
I wanted to start sewing as a hobby and I love this machine. It is very easy to use when you get the hang of it. The weight is a little heavy but still easy to pick up. The sewing power is very good and can go very fast (im a speedy sewer ;) everything about this machine is very nice. I totally recommend! 10/10

Great, only a few exceptions that kept me from giving it a higher score
LOVE my sewing machine! It is light weight and easy to use! It’s also a very quiet machine and I really like the ease of filling the bobbin. The auto-threading broke the second time I used it but I didn’t buy it for that anyway. I am glad I purchased it with the extra carry case because the one it came with was well …worthless outside of having it to protect for shipping.

Cheap and Unusable
Garbage machine - needle broke twice when sewing simple cloth. Too much garbage to work through to use the machine. Threw away a new Singer machine earlier this year for the same reason - never did work correctly and Singer does not make good on the warranty. This machine is cheap and I would like to know if anybody can recommend a machine in this day and age that does work like the older models did. It is cheap and flimsy and does not manage any type of cloth well.

Sews great, but has design flaws
I teach sewing classes and purchased 8 of these machines! This machine works great like all of the other Brother machines I have purchased. I have nothing bad to say about it as a sewing machine, but I do have some design issues. Here are my positives and negatives: Positives: I love the hard case that just slips on. Stitches are nice and clean/even. Speed control is a game changer for me as I teach sewing classes with these machines and I can turn down the speed for beginners. Negatives. The thread spool holder has to be folded in and out for use. This prevents my students from being able to leave the thread with the machine when they put it away. May not be a big deal to you if you are not putting it away and taking it out so often. I am afraid a student will go to put the cover on and break off the whole thing! You also have to store the spool cap in a little slot near the thread holder, which would make it very easy to lose. The other thing I don't like is the compartment where supplies are stored on the base of the machine. It's just an open hole with no closing mechanism so when you take it out to get a needle or foot, everything spills out everywhere. My solution is to put the extra supplies in a ziplock baggie before putting it in the compartment. Not a huge deal, but it's a little inconvenient. It would have been so easy for Brother to just put a hinged door on the compartment. The machine stitches letters, which I thought was sooooo great, but the font is very plain and embroiders very small and is usually pretty hard to read. My students love it because they can put their name on things, but really it doesn't come out that great. In conclusion...I would by Brother again, but not this model because of the design issues that I have as a sewing teacher.
