In my work tote, I have an emergency bag, labelled “Lake Como Bag”. You know, it’s for that one time when I have the chance to fly to Lake Como for the weekend and the private jet is leaving in 10 minutes and I say, “Oh, no, I couldn’t possibly. I don’t have my charger.” And you couldn’t – possibly – find a compatible charger in Rome. You see my problem. I have a solution – a one-charge charger, specifically designed with emergencies in mind. Or, if you’re watching Alan Cummins do a one-man show and you’re trying to schedule an Uber to get you back to Rockville and your phone is dying and yes, you’re at the point where you’ll happily pay $110 dollars, just to get back to the Farragut West metro station and even if you got an Uber, you wouldn’t know which is yours because – YOUR PHONE IS DEAD! Or, here’s a different, totally random scenario: Suppose, under the guise of you being a klutz, you purchased a phone case based on the color. And, over time, it destroyed the area where the phone charger goes. So, you nurse it for 18 months, until, it’s just not charging at all. And, when you buy a new phone, you realize that you have work apps on your old one and those need to be transferred over. So, you need – just one – charge from your completely dead phone. This is one of those things that you hope that you never have to use. It’s a single-use, emergency charger, specifically for emergencies (see, because, it’s in the name). It’s essentially idiot-proof; you remove it from the packaging, plug it into your phone and “dispose of it responsibly” when you’re done. I appreciate that it is so user-friendly; when your phone dies, you panic. Read the instructions, it requires no thought. I continue to be amazed at the amount of stuff that it takes to get through daily life. I would swear that the pioneers on the Oregon Trail took less baggage on a three month trip then I pack for a single work day. Modern life is hard – this little device (3 for $21.99) makes it a little easier.

It's good for emergency use. Very slim and square. Slow charging but got me up to 50% from dead.

Definitely great for days your phone dies

Overall awesome, but it does take a while to charge my phone. I'll be holding onto these though in case there's an emergency and I need to charge my phone.

3.5 stars - these are good to have in an emergency, but don't charge that well. I was intrigued by these chargers, because I keep a disaster kit in the house and car. I figured these would be a great addition to my kits. There are 3 chargers in total, and they are each individually packaged in waterproof, moisture-proof packaging, so they are well protected up until you need to use them. I used one so I could do a proper test. My Samsung phone was down to 4% battery. I clicked the switch on the charger to "on" (don't forget to do that or it won't charge) and plugged it into my phone. It fit fine and started charging. I did use the phone some on and off (as you might in an emergency), and it seemed to max out once my phone was charged to 35%. That took about 2 hours. So, it charged my phone a little over 30% in 2 hours. Not great and takes quite long, but still a nice thing to have in a true emergency. 30% is better than none! Will be happy to have these as a backup.
