Antarctic Star Countertop Ice Maker Machine, 26Lbs/Day Fastest 6‑Min Ice

Well, I got tired of hearing everybody complaining there was no ice because this house and the refrigerator at the time did not have water and ice in the door. Yes, I have a new refrigerator very fancy one, but I still don’t have water and ice hooked up to it because I have to re- remodel the kitchen and run an ice line down the wall! So I purchased this unit because my daughter bought one she talked about how quiet it was and all the good points so I purchased this unit! Most people won’t like how long they actually take and most of these units all take about the same amount of time to produce ice! But I can tell you the operation is flawless very quiet and it’s a well built unit. It’s got weight to it. It’s not cheap. I would say that when you’re done using it to be sure you clean it out buying the right cleaner and taking care of this product but I can tell you it makes ice and if you wanna bag it and put it in the freezer yes it takes a little while but if you’re needing lots of ice very quickly, you better consider a very enlarge ice machine but if you just need a little bit and you’re single and you wanna bag it or you wanna get it out of the machine while you’re at home then just let it do its job make some ice and you’ll enjoy it. I really like this product. I don’t regret purchasing it not one bit and if I know somebody that needs one, I’ll buy them this one or I’ll give them the one I have once I get the new refrigerator up with water and ice in the door but for now this is a trusted product and works awesome and I recommend it especially for you single folks who live in a little apartments that just needs some ice once in a while, great product

I've been using one of these for about 2 months, and so far, I love it. Considering it has an actual refrigeration compressor unit and not a gimmicky Peltier plate or something like that, I wasn't expecting much for such an affordable price, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it's built well and does exactly what it claims to do.It really does produce a small batch of ice about every 6 minutes, and as long as you're there to attend to it, I don't doubt that it will make 26 lbs of ice per day as claimed.Pros:- Incredibly cheap ice. It uses about 100W while running, and makes about 1 lb per hour, so that's 10 lbs of ice for 1kWh of electricity. The national average for grid electricity is about 15 cents per kWh. A 10-lb bag of ice for 15 cents is only about 5% of what I pay at my local grocery store.- Small and quiet. Everyone will define "quiet" differently, but I'll just say that it wasn't nearly as loud as I was expecting. It's significantly quieter than my dishwasher, and even in the same small room, doesn't disrupt conversation in the slightest. Only takes up about a square foot of counter space, too, although you'll want to leave some space around the fans on the side so it can cool itself adequately.- Portable. I plan to pack this along regularly in my teardrop trailer. I have 800W of solar panels on the roof, so this won't make a dent in my power usage, and it's free ice anywhere I go. No need to find a gas station or anything - I can just convert sunlight to ice on demand. Pretty cool.Cons:- Since this lives on the countertop and not inside the freezer, it requires somewhat frequent attention. Personally, I don't really mind that at all - I just set an alarm on my phone and check in on it once per hour or so, and usually find a full bin of ice ready to transfer into the freezer - but I would imagine some people would find this annoying. It's inherent to the design, though, so if you want an automatic ice maker, save up and buy an automatic ice maker.- Ice sometimes blocks the "bin full" sensor before the bin is actually full. This pauses the machine until you push the little stragglers into the bin. Just a minor annoyance, nothing more.- The ice it makes is somewhat low-density, and with a relatively high surface area, so it melts a bit faster in a drink than the type you'd usually buy at a grocery store or gas station. If you're particular about that, I'd imagine you've already discovered the large silicone ice cube trays that make huge cubes of ice that melt very slowly. I'd use those if you don't want your drink to get watered-down too quickly.

I inherited this machine from my parents because they didn’t want the crushed ice type of machine and I didn’t know that this was the ice maker I never knew I needed.It’s the absolute perfect thing for making quick consistent unit. I’ve never had a bad batch of ice from it plus it’s extremely quick at replacing what you take out.I’ve gotten to the point that I enjoy crushed ice versus cubed and find that crushed lasts longer especially if you pack it in your drink.I e never had any leaks or issues with this compared to other more expensive units that I’ve had.It is a bit on the noisy side when the compressor kicks in but the speed in which it makes ice makes up for it.For the price so realistically it’s worth the inexpensive price.5 stars all the way!!!

The product meets all of the claims in the advertisement and makes a lot of ice. It is a little noisy about the same as a refrigerator. It makes ice very quickly. A couple of recommendations for anyone having difficulties: when you first get the icemaker, it’s very important that you set it upright and allow it to sit for at least two hours before you actually plug it in. If you don’t do that, your compressor will burn out quickly. I also had an issue after six months of it making ice. I didn’t clean it like recommended and it stopped making ice. I ran 100% distilled vinegar through a cleaning cycle about four or five times and then a clean water cleaning cycle two or three times and that fixed it. It began making ice again. I would recommend the slice maker. It saved us a lot of money buying ice.Update: The water pump finally went out after 9 months of use. I’ve updated my rating to 3 stars. Appliances should last a minimum of 2-4 years in my opinion before breaking down. Still a good ice maker but doesn’t last very long.

This ice maker is a work horse!! makes ice quickly and consistently. the ONLY down side, is that there is no refrigeration around the finished ice. so this simply makes ice, it doesn't store and keep cold. so you have to be aware to keep checking it and emptying it often or it can start to melt a little bit. I made 2 10 lb bags of ice within 1 day (as i was doing household chores and was not emptying the ice bin as quickly as I would have liked to-I would get busy and notice the ice bin was full and then empty it). The ONLY reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is simply because it doesnt chill and store the ice that was made. I'd give it a 4.5 star for sure!

We’ve had this unit 2 months now and it’s been a lifesaver. Since refrigerator-based ice makers are designed to work for roughly 3 1/2 weeks, this thing came in super handy. The instructions say the first few sets of cubes will be substandard as the compressor cools down to the optimal level, which is true, but it cranks out perfect ice quickly after that. You do have to watch the collection basket and empty it into your freezer every 20-30 min but it’s not designed as a set it and forget it unit. It’s not designed to keep the ice cold after it’s made so it’s perfect to run while you’re making dinner and you can just empty into the freezer occasionally. Great little unit, highly recommend.

I did like the ice that it made but it didn't work very long stop functioning

I purchased this ice machine because my previous machine (GE Opal nugget ice maker) stopped making ice and I wanted a small machine to get my by until I can decide which machine I want to invest in to replace that.The Pro's: It is very reasonably priced. It is small so takes up a very small footprint. Because it is small it would be very portable and you can move it around with ease. It makes ice very quickly.The Con's: It is very small so the basket doesn't hold a lot of ice - you can fill up one cup and that's it. (thankfully it makes ice pretty quickly but it can be clunky if you need a lot of ice). It is loud when the ice is done and is being dumped in the basket. The small cubes are a lot bigger than i would expect. I haven't tried the large cubes but I am sure I would not like them because I like smaller ice cubes.Overall this is a decent machine and does the job for now.

It’s very nice ice and created in no time. The only thing I wish is that it would act as storage for the ice but you have to turn it off once you’re done making ice. It fits well on the counter.
