I waited a year to write this review in order to be fair in my assessment and to also be able to speak to the durability of the product. I installed this sub in a Jeep Wrangler and powered it with a Rockford 5-channel amp that is also powering four 6.5s. I didn't want to take up a lot of space in the cargo area with a huge box and I really just wanted to round out the low end; I listen to a lot of classic rock and reggae so I was not looking to shake any windows since only about 10% of what I play falls within the rap or hip-hop genres. Initially, I was pretty underwhelmed with this sub - the first couple weeks gave me average performance at best and I did also experiment with some bass-heavy R&B just to see how it would perform. With the R&B, it produced a dull thud-like sound and with the classic rock, it really didn't sound very good when turned up loud enough to make a difference. But over the next month or so, it started to loosen up and sound more musical than noisy, and after about 3 months of moderate use, I became very happy with it. Again, I was not looking for club-quality bass, I just wanted to add some depth. That being said, it also performs very well now when I pop in some rap or hip-hop. Not a competition sub by any means, but I find myself needing to turn down the bass level for these genres. When the doors and top are off the Jeep, I'll adjust the bass knob a little higher and it is sounds great, even above the wind noise. My bottom line with this sub is that it is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to add nice tone to the lower end of the spectrum. It takes up a surprisingly small amount of space for a 10-inch, and i feel it is a bargain at this price point. The construction of the box itself is also very solid; it's had sports equipment, lawn supplies and such thrown on it, placed on it, been covered with it and a year later, it's no worse off than the day I got it. If you give it time to work itself in, you'll be happy.

Was able to fit this under the drivers seat of my 2016 Wrangler with a little bit of ingenuity. Sounds great for the price.

This review is more so for the box. As my speaker arrived damaged. Bought this for use in my 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Actually mine was a warehouse deal. Original box and hardware was there. The problem was the sub. It sounded okay at low volume but once I got 1/4 past volume, you could tell that something was wrong (more on that in a bit) Before I returned it. I had an idea.... So I put it on my bench. Removed the screws. Took the sub out. Box was pretty dirty inside but nothing a some compressed air couldn’t take care of. Examining the sub, it had a dragging sound when the cone was pushed. Chances are the previous owner blew the sub and returned it. Yeah..... but the box is what I really wanted. So I did some homework and put in a different woofer. Enter the kicker compRT. It fits nicely with room to spare! I also added some polyfil inside the box. Now this little 8 comes alive in the foot well. Keep in mind that even from the stock set up, this is not going to rattle windows or annoy neighbors. It does a good job of being small and filling in the low end void of dash/door speakers. Running this now at 2 ohms with a sound ordnance m350.1. Once gains and crossover were set, this box and sub combo is very tight and accurate. Box is small enough to fit in many applications.

I had horrible experiences with these subs. I was initially satisfied with my purchase but the sub blew after only about a week and I had to return it. I opted to just exchange it for a new one and the exchange was very quick, which I appreciated. When I got the replacement I took it to be installed, and have the amp tuned by a professional, thinking it was possible that I could have blown the first one myself by tuning it incorrectly. This one was blown straight out of the box. I was hopeful that this would be a good budget option, but I would bump up into the next price range if you’re looking for a decent, yet small and affordable sub. That’s what I will be doing.

This subwoofer added all the low end sound that I was not getting from 6.5” full range speakers. The difference is amazing. Does not rattle the car or your bones. If you want that, go with the 10” version. I just wanted to hear the bass guitar and drums in my music. Fits great between the front seats of my Chevy Astro van.
