Stylish and Functional Lunch Box
The Bentgo MicroSteel Leak-Proof Lunch Box (Gold) looks amazing and performs well for daily meals. It fits most portions and feels premium in hand. Build Quality & Design Made from stainless steel with a silicone-sealed lid, itโs microwave- and oven-safe (without lid). The removable divider makes it easy to separate foods. Finish is sleek and resistant to stains or odors even after several weeks of use. Real Performance Test Used for 3 weeks with rice, salads, and pasta. The airtight lid prevents leaks perfectly. However, itโs noticeably loud when using a metal spoon due to the steel interior. Keeps food warm for about 1.5โ2 hours and reheats evenly. Pros Premium look and build quality Fully leak-proof and easy to clean Fits generous meal portions Durable and stain-resistant Reportedly great warranty support Cons Loud when using metal utensils Divider can shift slightly if not packed tightly Best For Office workers or students wanting a reusable, eco-friendly lunch box that looks refined and seals tightly. Not Ideal For People sensitive to noise or who prefer lighter plastic containers. Tips for Buyers Use silicone or wooden utensils to reduce noise and protect the finish.

Fit the bill
Avoiding plastic isn't easy, and my adult son that I bought it for wants something microwaveable instead of something insulated & therefor bulky. This came as close as possible to matching my apparently difficult requirements. โ Not plastic. Plastics degrade into microplastic particles that our bodies have no way to remove, and their plasticizers leach into food. The majority of lunch containers on the market are nevertheless plastic or include unwanted plastic elements. โ Stainless steel, yet microwaveable. I think it's due to a combination of the type of stainless steel and the rounded edges. There are limits on the power of the microwave (1000W) but he hasn't had trouble with the microwave at work. โ Stainless steel doesn't stain. Rounded corners. Easy to clean. โ Stainless steel doesn't mind heat or cold. โ One dividable box seems more flexible (for our food habits anyway) overall than common multiple small stacking containers (designed for lunches consisting of rice & something else). For soup I switch to a thermal food jar. โ Has an unwanted thin exterior coating purely to add color. Whole point of stainless steel is it doesn't need it, and the coating will just come off. Lost a whole star for this. โ Nothing keeps the lid on but a silicone seal that will probably fail within a few years, limiting its durability and longevity. It's possible to find (and I did) an insulated pack that it fits into rather snugly. The pack is advertised to keep "hot" or cold, but really only cold because plastic doesn't deal well with heat. At best, warm for a few hours. This is a problem with the pack not the bento box itself; just mentioning so you're aware of the option & its limitations. I can just squeeze in a hot/cold pack to keep it warm (not really hot) or cold longer.
