Good drive. Good price.
(for details on the drive, please skip down the page, underneath my rant) The product arrived on the date it should have, nice and early in the day. However, despite being in the house, waiting for the delivery, the driver 'presumed' that nobody was home and left it with a neighbour. WHY ?!?!?!? I have no idea. Odd if you ask me. Then on top of that, he never left a card to say its been left with a neighbour. So the only way to trace it was when later in the day I saw it said delivered and managed to trace the signature to a neighbour. However I am new to the area and this was a major annoyance. Its not hard to knock.... or ring the bell.... or leave a 'sorry you were not home card' ____________________________ REVIEW ON THE DRIVE This drive was well reviewed and in some ways appears superior to the caviar black, especially on 1TB models like mine. The price was good (despite nearly a £1 rise overnight) I have had bad experiences in the past with Seagate. So tend to stick to brands i have had good experiences with. Sony, Samsung, Zalman, Corsair etc The drive is fast, has 1TB of storage. Its SATA3 with a 64mb buffer. So performs nicely. The only grueling thing done so far was copying files over from an old SATA 1-250GB blue. The writing speed was impressive. Several groups of 40-60GB in less than 10 minutes each. 5/5 for the drive 5/5 for speedy shipping 1/5 for stupid parcel force man 2/5 for packing - 1 end of the drive was un-bubblewrapped.

Apt
This product is similar to the old hard drive I had; the only difference with the other being Caviar Green. This hard drive works just as well, and I am well pleased with it. I ordered this on 7/4/14 and it arrived on 10/4/14, which was a day before the estimated delivery period of 12/4/14----15/4/14. Today; the 11/4/14 I also received my Windows 7 Professional operating system so I was finally able to use this hard drive. I put my sata wire in my hard drive and the other one (it's a little bigger and has black. red and yellow wires) and put in the Windows 7 disc. Windows 7 installed in under an hour and the hard drive has 931 GB of memory free on it. The hard drive is doing good so far. Another reason that I bought this hard drive rather than the Caviar Green again was because I have recently learnt about OEMs. My Caviar Green -- which I got from my other computer whose hard drive is broken -- didn't work on this current computer I am using and I now realise that it was due to it being an OEM. There is nothing to indicate that this hard drive is an OEM either, therefore if you want a possibly non-OEM hard drive, get this one. HOWEVER, don't quote me on that, I haven't tested to see if this hard drive works on different motherboards. If you are looking for a hard drive and you are thinking of buying this one, I would suggest that you do. If this hard drive is anything like my WD Caviar Green; this hard drive won't give you any problems. It's also likely that you have read the negative reviews on this HDD, I did too but after having a Caviar Green, this Caviar Blue hard drive performs similarly well and I can't find any fault with it. Although this review is only on the first day of use, I do plan on updating this to give further information, Lord willing.

1TB version of this drive is fast.
This is a great drive if you buy the 1TB version - it's faster than some WD Black drives in some tests. I've bought about 6 of these drives and 2 of them have had heavy use. One of them started to fail after about 5 years use so that's fair enough. I recovered the sectors that were messed up so no harm done. It's really failing now but at least it's dying gracefully. The other drives have not had such heavy use. So get this for speed and also for the fact it is a CMR tech drive.

Bought as a replacement for a dead Seagate hard drive in Buffalo external USB Drive Station
Arrived in reasonable time scale . Product as described . Fitted into Buffalo External USB drive casing and partitioned into 3 . Music Collection, Pictures and Video Files, Laptop complete backup. Working so far with about half the disk space used . Speed of file transfer reasonable and speed of access to the thousands of Mp3 music tracks when drive plugged into Samsung Blue Ray player usb port is quite fast . Music plays with no problems with little noise and heat from the WD drive. The original Seagate hard drive in the Buffalo external drive had lasted a few years (failed due to being knocked over ! ) so I reserve final judgement on this drive but pleased so far. As good as the Seagate drive at a budget price. If it lasts the test of time would give it 5 stars. Note this drive is not partitioned or formatted on arrival. When attached to computer use disk management utility and this will show drive as unallocated . Need to partition and format. Plenty help on internet to do this just Google it.

Great HDD for a Great Price
This is my favourite Hard Drive of all the ones I tried. It offers great speed, great reliability and all that for a great price. Firstly, Its blazing fast. It doesn't take long to boot and once it boots any folders and files open instantly. File transfers between two of these discs are fast and stable without stutters. Another amazing thing about this HDD is its longevity. I had one for two years already and It is still perfectly fine and I haven't even noticed any performance degradation. I never had any corrupted files or any other problems. One problem I have is that I only purchased a 1TB one :) I now have 2x1TB ones and they're already almost full. My advice, buy the largest capacity you are willing to pay for. Also, maybe look into an SSD as those are so much faster (I'm talking almost instant boot up) and they are becoming cheaper now. The price is amazing for such a high quality hard drive and I definitely recommend it to anyone building a computer or looking for replacements. Easy installation as with any hard drive and you should have zero problems installing an OS or any programs/files to it right away.

So far so good.
Installed in 5 mins (mostly thanks to my Corsair case, if I'm honest) and worked straight away as it should. I noticed a difference straightaway from my main drive, the Samsung Spinpoint F3. The seek times were noticeably shorter - not sure how much of the difference would be down to the new drive being SATA3 and the old drive being SATA2, I read somewhere that the difference in SATA performance is only really noticeable when you're using an SSD drive. Either way, performance is definitely better. ATM I'm using this drive as a secondary backup drive and the Samsung for boot, although judging the speed difference I should have done it the other way round. I'm going to leave it as-is for now though, until I look for an SSD for a boot drive in the new year - hopefully prices will have dropped a little more by then. The first month of use has passed uneventfully (I think this is the prime period for initial HDD failures) so for now it appears reliable. Of course, as we all know, HDDs are notoriously unpredictable in that respect. So in terms of positive reviews and value for money, I think this drive is the best available at the moment.

Amazing Price and Quality. As Expected
The Product arrived a day after dispatch, which was great but it caught me off guard as I hadn't bought the SATA cable yet! Yes, word of advice to anyone reading this review, SATA cables aren't shipped with this hard disk, which is to be expected but you can buy one of fairly good quality which will set you back less than £1. Alternately, if you are a first time desktop computer builder, and you're looking at this; most decent branded motherboards will come with complementary SATA cables. Anyway, I bought this as a second drive for my gaming build, as I was running dangerously low on disk space. As per norm with Western Digital Hard Disks, it works great. There's a few fiddly bits I needed to do in computer management to get windows to recognize the drive properly, but when it is set up that's all I needed to do. If your operating system doesn't recognize it straight away, don't panic, go to computer management and when you're prompted to initialize the disk, do so, it's basically writing zeros for you. Then, right click on the unallocated space, format it to NTFS and you're ready to go, windows will pick up the drive as a compatible storage space and you can start using it immediately. I swear by western digital, I've never had one fail on me yet in 10 years of building PCs so hopefully, this one won't let me down!

Cheap Alternative for a new HDD
It may not be the most complex pieces of kit, nor is it as fast as an SSD, but if you're looking for a cheap, budget hard drive; in that case be sure to look no further. Obviously this isn't the type of hardware that is going to allow your PC to boot up within a few seconds, but once again, this isn't an SSD. What the hard drive does, though, is provide the user with a nice boost to their overall memory, without breaking the bank too much for someone who isn't looking to spend too much on their new PC build, yet don't want to be held back by an even smaller hard drive. Overall, when it comes to finding a cheap and reliable hard drive, then it's fair to say that you don't need to look any further. It takes almost no time at all if you have an idea of how to install a hard drive into your PC, and with this one it won't take you any longer than 5-10 minutes: maximum! Simply put, if you're on the look out for a new hard drive, I would recommend picking this one up, as there isn't anything not to love, at least not in the time that I've had it.

No me hada dado ningún problema.

Reliable drive
Drive is good, proved to be fail-safe and efficient. Mine arrived from third-party seller not being entirely new (it was removed from server/nas/etc) and repacked. 1TB version is definitely more reliable. Though I can't recommend Amazon delivery as they surely throw it dozen times on the floor and it will be packed into cheap cardboard and a plastic bag, which definitely doesn't increase drive lifespan.

Defective product received - no replacement/refund
Rs 14,999 paid, but received a defective product. It started clicking when plugged into my desktop on Day-0. It's called "click of death" when HDD has a mechanical failure. It was dead on arrival. Amazon refused to refund or replace as it does not qualify for returns. I tried explaining that the HDD is defective, but to no avail. Rs, 15,000 just gone; or so I thought. Now, went to the Western Digital Service center for warranty coverage. They said I will get it back in 7-10 days. One day full wasted travelling to the service center. After 10 days, I plan to go for holidays. It is a total mess. The product was received without any visible damage to the package. Imagine Amazon and WD colluding to get rid of defective product this way. Looking at reviews, I am not the first one to have received a defective HDD. See the video of the click of death sound. Its risky to buy non-returnable products from Amazon. Customer now has to run around, and at the en,d I will get a re-furbhished product.
