The Secret Zoo

Gift for youngster. They loved it!

This is an amazing book series! I started reading together with my 10 year old and we both love all the books so far! Highly recommend for any kids who love adventure stories. My son is now 11 and we just finished book 5. We've found this universe has just the right amount of mystery, silliness, magic, suspense and emotion. I can't wait to get the next one!

After having just finished a 700-page novel, I was looking for a less heavy read to tackle next. This seemed to fit the bill so I gave it a shot. If you are looking for an airtight plot, impressive literary talent or perfect word choice, you won't find it here. But if you are willing to suspend your criticisms and just enjoy something for what it is, you will find a delightful little weekend read in this book. It is funny, at times suspenseful, at times silly, and reads to me like a story a parent would invent for their children (in fact, this may be a read-aloud for my daughter when she gets a little older. Kids will love it and parents, steal it from them so you can read it too! It is just the kind of lighthearted material that can bring a smile to your face after a long day at work. And since I was the kind of kid who used to love imagining I could interact with the animals at the zoo, the storyline was totally indulgent of my inner child. Great fun!

This book is exhilarating. My 10 year old says its the best book he's ever read. This book, while geared towards a 5th to 8th grade reading level brings about emotions of fear, happiness, love, joy, excitement and a whirlwind of others. At times it is funny and at times a bit scary for a younger child. I would say certain concepts are inferred such as kidnapping or missing children, death, and fighting, however done so in a way that lends itself to a comic relief. We will be continuing the series. The prairie dogs and Blizzard were our favorites. Highly reccomend this.

My 9 year old daughter loved this book. I wouldn't let her read it at bedtime though because it gets action intense and the cliff hangers keep the reader wanting more. She's excited to read the next one.

Nice book.

My daughter, (9 years old) said that it was “very creative, fun to read and that she loved it!”. We read the first bit together and then she took off with it.

I bought this to read to my 6 year old son at bedtime - and found myself reading on after he'd fallen asleep each evening!! It's such an exciting and interesting concept - a group of children who discover there is far more to the local Zoo than they ever imagined! Their adventures are amazing, and the animals they befriend are great characters. I can't wait for the next book to come out so we can find out what happens next.

I like it

My grandson and I have been reading together on FaceTime throughout the pandemic. This is one of the best books we've read! The story is engaging and whimsical, and the writing is excellent! This is what children's literature should be. Josh and I highly recommend this book. We plan to read the whole series.
