how often do i have to replace filter?

There are two filters, carbon filter is good for 150 liters filtering, change every two months. The micro filter is good for 1000 liters change once a year.

Can i buy only activated carbon? Its not necessary to buy complete replacement when it can be used 264 galleons. Its seems extra cost

Great question - yes - there is an activated carbon 3-pack available. Under "style" on the LifeStraw Home product page on Amazon, select "Carbon Filter 3X" - that will be a 6 month supply of carbon filtration. https://www.amazon.com/LifeStraw-Bacteria-Parasites-Microplastics-Chemicals/dp/B07WJQW938/ref=asc_df_B07QN17RVC/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=366315305197&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10204162475038472582&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9016044&hvtargid=aud-802037562948%3Apla-788014936050&ref=&adgrpid=84691873668&th=1

Does this reduce nitrate in the water? Thank you!

From initial our research, we have deducted that activated carbon material is not effective at removing nitrates from water. Since we have never tested our LifeStraw products against nitrates and nitrites, we do not have conclusive data on this type of removal percentage.
