Are these really useful? I'd think chalk lines would be much better/more thorough & wouldn't get moved/kicked?

They were useful for a little while on our home full-court basketball court while we were trying and deciding whether or not we would like Pickleball. We do like Pickleball and so pretty quickly bought a line painting template for Pickleball lines and spray paint. So now we don't use them anymore. I can see that they would also be useful to have to bring to a tennis court for a game. They lay flat and stay put pretty well. Don't leave them out in the sun and weather or they will dry out and start curling up on the corners, etc. So, all in all, not a complete substitute for actual lines obviously, but useful enough when you want to play on a tennis court with no Pickleball lines.

Would these markers be slippery, if you are running on them?

No they are not slippery. I use them to mark out the court at the park. They are really nice

Do you need to tape them down or you can lay them on the tennis court field?

You can just lay them down. No tape needed. I also sometimes use a cheap carpenters chaulk line between the yellow markers.

How exactly does this work now? So you don’t have full lines?

That is correct, you will not have full lines, just the framework for the court, which will give you a good idea of whether shots are in or out. That may be less than ideal, but still hand for quickly setting up a temporary court on a tennis or basketball court, etc.
