His groundbreaking music is energized with modern grooves and harmonies to create a soulful practice that is eminently accessible to modern hearts, while staying true to the path of Bhakti Yoga.Heart as Wide as the World includes all brand new chants and is Krishna Das' first album recorded entirely in the studio in more than 10 years. A collaboration with acclaimed producer David Nichtern it also includes musician Jerry Marotta on drums & percussion and an array of unique instruments including the dotar, tablas, esraj and bansuri flute. Review: Such a wonderful Peaceful C.D. of Krishna Das - I had the pleasure of seeing this wonderful Artist several times and having dinner with him in Los Angeles at a local Private Kirtan when he was in Los Angeles several years ago. He is so wonderful, thoughtful, caring. If you enjoy Kirtan and enjoy stress free music this C.D. is for you. If you are a true fan of his and Kirtan this is a must in your collection. When I first heard it: "I cried" knowing his singing came from his Heart and realizing that this is why he called the C.D. Heart as Wide as the World. His guru is in the music he sings and if you are a devotee of his guru his love will reach out to you. I cannot say enough about this CD except I was unable to see him this year 2010 in Los Angeles. But I got the CD and it was like I was there singing, enjoying and smiling along with all my friends who so love his music to. He is a amazing soul and a wonderful person to know. I hope he can read this some day and understand that I was the one that gave him that prayer wand that night at Los Angeles. He truly is a Master and so so humble. If I had to say I have a favorite at this point it would be #7: By Your Grace/Jai Gurudev: Is my all time favorite because it express's the true meaning of finding, searching, going, and then all that is left is the "LOVE" OF LIFE AND SOUL. thank you Krishna Das for this wonderful CD. It made my birthday so much more important! Review: KD does it again - I've been chanting with Krishna Das since May 2006 and it has been quite a ride. With this CD, the devotion, the bhakti is deeper, more joyous. The chants combine Western sensibilities with the bliss, joy and heart-opening energies of the mantras. The title track is, for me, one of the most moving chants. Krishna Das' love for his guru shines through as the simple words are sung. The first time I heard this I burst into tears at the beauty, the love that was just pouring out. The addition of an old Yardbirds tune on "Narayanan/For Your Love" is another stroke of genius. Combining rock and roll with Sanskrit sounds odd at first - but it works here. Seeing it live brings out another dimension - the intensity of the chant can bring one to their knees. This CD is wonderful. If you want to get to a place of joy within your heart, buy this CD. Come home to Joy.

Great for heart clearing and strengthening
This is my first Krishna Das experience, and it leaves me wanting more. In the first month of having this CD, I played it everyday. When I reached the last track, Jai Gurudev, I put the player in repeat mode and listened to the track repeatedly. The dotar accompaniment on this track hauntingly brings the chants even deeper. Perhaps this is an example of the right chants/music at the right time for me. Highly recommended for anyone who is exploring chanting and its incredible impact on body-mind-spirit growth.

An extraordinary invitation to remember...
This is one of those very rare offerings that lends itself to "saturation," or "immersion" - the capacity to play the entire CD on repeat for hours without a sense of monotony OR system overload. Not since 'Pilgrim Heart' have I experienced such an Om Namaha Shiviya as emerges 4.5 minutes into Track 5 and extends for 8 minutes. And the Shiva Puja in those first 4.5 minutes sets a perfect stage for the last 8. ALL the tracks are outstanding; my favorite is the 7th and last track, quite simply the most beautiful prayer I've ever heard. Most awesome line for me is from this track: "I am the lover, you are the love." I've had this prayer on repeat for hours while at the computer or doing housework. EVERYone who hears it feels calm, clearer - closer to remembering the One Love we are. Thank you, Krishna Das, for sharing the Love that we might all remember & join together in its Oneness...

Simply Beautiful
There is a beauty, depth, and soulfulness to this particular Krishna Das album that moves and drops me into my feeling heart. The devotional songs are slower and in both English and Indian, which is wonderful because it allows one to sing along. The music fills my house with joy, even my sweet cats don't leave the room when I turn up the volume. Everyone who has heard this album loves it.

Great for Yoga
Krishna Das has a gritty and pleasing voice. Repetitive chanting and melodies are great. Six more words seem to be required.

Perfect Love
Listening to Krishna Das, who I consider to be a true love-warrior, sing these love songs to God (our own highest selves) and singing along with him will, for sure, reach down deep and pull out the very best in yourself. These chants will pierce your heart and evoke unprecedented feelings of joy, sweetness, and tenderness. They are the very expression of that perfect love we all crave.

Glorious Kirtan by a Great Master of the Form
Glorious soaring kirtan. His voice is so raw and powerful. I just love the feeling this album gives and my husband loves it even more than I do. If you can only afford one KD album I recommend this one. It has it all.

Krishna Das, easily the father of Western Kirtan, has created a Bhakti (devotion) banquet that calms the mind, and feeds the Heart and Soul. Using both English and Sanskrit he creates a rich, evocative tapestry of music and meaning. His English lyrics explore and reveal the deep meaning of these ancient devotional hymns, that for centuries and in some cases Millennia, have opened the hearts of sincere seekers to the Divine that dwells within us all. Only someone with Krishna Das’ incredibly rich life experience, utter authenticity, sincere devotion to his Guru, and the spiritual path could be the gifted vessel of such manifest Grace. This is a gift you can give to your beautiful radiant inner Self and cherish for life!

"Heart As Wide As The World" by Krishna Das Whenever I listen to Krishna Das (KD), I always feel that I am experiencing something more than just music, for his voice carries with it a unique worldly gravitas that sinks deep into my soul. Even the passive listener will likely find themself hearing echoes of KD's voice in their head for hours after listening to just one of his many chants. The same is certainly true after listening to any track from "Heart As Wide As The World". Here KD and his band of outstanding musicians, including the devotional choir Kosmic Kirtan Posse of New York, lovingly perform each chant. Egoless instrumental textures are woven together through a successful fusion of Indian and Western instrumentation as joyful singing radiates from your speakers. You will find yourself captivated by the overwhelmingly strong sense of community and enjoyment that oozes from every track, whether sung completely in Sanskrit or combined with English verse. Indeed, the alternation between English and Sanskrit texts feels so seamless on 'Naaraayana / For Your Love' that you might not, at first, recognise the song penned by Graham Gouldman and made famous by The Yardbirds. Each track is mixed and mastered to the highest of standards. The slight emphasis on the low-mid frequency range produces a full and embodying mix that seems highly fitting for KD's soulful, earthy voice. The album comprises seven chants as follows: 1. My Foolish Heart / Bhaja Govinda (9'41") 2. Naaraayana / For Your Love (10'00") 3. Hallelujah Shri Ram (14'22") 4. Heart As Wide As The World / Shri Ram Jai Ram (8'21") 5. Shiva Puja & Chant (12'24") 6. Sitaram (11'07") 7. By Your Grace / Jai Gurudev (7'17") Tracks 1, 2, 3 and 7 combine the use of Sanskrit and English, whilst tracks 3, 5 and 6 are sung entirely in Sanskrit. The CD sleeve notes contain the lyrics to each chant, a page of album credits and several photographs (including one of KD's guru, the late Sri Neem Karoli Baba). For those of you who are wary of purchasing a CD produced by "The Rockstar of Yoga", have no fear; this album is far removed from the impersonal "New Age" wallpaper music that frequently plagues museum and heritage site gift shops! (You know the ones I mean... they're normally situated between the scented candles and the glow-in-the-dark planets!) On this CD you will neither suffer any wooziness from the sounds of perfectly tuned dolphins accompanied by wishy-washy synthesizer pads, nor will you run screaming from the sound of panpipes playing the likes of 'The Wind Beneath My Wings' or 'Up Where We Belong'. No, "Heart As Wide As The World" is, very thankfully, far removed from that banal money making category; instead it will invite you to turn up the volume and chant along at the top of your voice. When the album finishes playing, you will find that it demands another listening... and another... and then another... until you find yourself randomly bursting out into chant at every available opportunity... the looks I get from strangers as I go about my grocery shopping! It really is that addictive. I would also highly recommend KD's double disc live album " Heart Full Of Soul " (2008) which features a fantastic version of 'Hare Krishna' amongst eleven other chants.
