Yes, it works for the metri-pack 480 connectors.

There are multiple terminals covering the same wire gauge. are they all in awg? which terminals are for the wire, and which are for the insulation?

Not sure if I understand the question correctly, but I think you're asking 2 different things. The wire needs to be stripped back then inserted into the terminals, after you put the boot on the insulation of the wire. There's a video on the Amazon crimper page that shows it being a 2 step process. You crimp the wire first then the part that goes around the boot and insulation. As to AWG wire gauge I've gone as big as 16 on these terminals and as small as 22. It takes practice to get a good crimp
