What battery? I don’t understand why it says ‘battery powered’? Please explain

It's an old fashioned thermometer, no battery! I would say it's made of glass and mercury, except that I think the substance inside is actually not mercury but possibly something safer (not entirely sure what the substance is). But no, it's the same type of thermometer as we used to yse 40-50 years ago, no battery.
