VOX AP2BS amPlug 2 Guitar/Bass Headphone Amplifier Black

i LOVE this device! I've got two other amps, one in each of my practice spaces, but lately I find myself always using this little headphone amp. it's just so portable and convenient, and lets me play very quietly so I don't disturb my roommates. the sound quality is pretty good. a little hum, but much less than either of my large amps. my only slight gripe is the max volume is kinda low, wish it would go just a tiny bit louder.. the cool thing is you don't have to use this amp only with headphones, you can plug in any speakers, or plug it into line in on your pc and take advantage of the features there too! for this unit, the Bass version, there are volume, tone, and drum loop volume settings. additionally, there are three pre-set drum loops that you can flip between, which is super convenient for practice on the go. i really love the aux input, let's me connect my mobile phone and pass through audio for my drum loop app or to listen to youtube videos or backing tracks while i play. so many features in such a small affordable package, everyone should have one!!

Used it on my Yamaha TRBX174EW bass and compared the sound quality that I get from my NI Komplete Audio 1 audio interface. The good: The bass sound is fantastic especially considering this was only $40 when I bought it. Compared to the Komplete Audio 1, the raw bass sound is almost identical to my ear except for the slight hissing (see below). I love the look as it looks like a tiny VOX amplifier on my desk. It is light and fast to use and you get to hear your playing on the fly, in your headphones without bothering anyone, with zero latency. All it needs is 2 AAA batteries which come included but is something you need to have in order to run it. The okay/bad: Yes, there is a constant hiss but if you're playing it will barely be noticeable. Most bass guitars have a tone knob on the bass itself so I suggest you turn down the tone on the amPlug to 1 (the lowest setting) as a higher tone level increases the hissing sound (just like on normal amplifiers and audio interfaces, so this is not a problem specific to the amPlug 2). It is also incredibly light, being made entirely of plastic, and will definitely break if you hit it hard enough/drop it on a hard surface, so be careful with it. I am very much hoping that there will be an amPlug 3 with a metal body, for both durability and functionality as that would reduce the hissing sound due to better shielding (but would also increase the price no doubt). For the money and the convenience it provides compared to a USB audio interface (which need power supply cords and/or your laptop to be on as well), an amplifier (costs a lot, takes up space, not portable and can get loud), it is a great purchase and I just hope it lasts me more than a year.

Tired of people complaining when you practice? This is just what you need. Runs on two AAA BATTERIES this brings the sound right to your headphones. It does stick out a but depending on your jack placement and there are others that are more form fitting but I find myself reaching for this one all the time for sound quality

I’ve been looking for a small, quiet device for playing bass without bothering anyone (since everyone’s locked up together during COVID). I saw a review of this device online, and realized this may be just what I was looking for. What won me over is that there’s a separate input for plugging in an iPad/phone to get the backing track or sang to play along with. That’s awesome! It works perfectly, and that would have been enough for me. But wait... there’s more!! The device plugs into the bass without being in the way too much. The plug folds away for storage, which is nice, and since it moves, you can angle it however you want to keep it tucked away. WARNING: I play an EN MM Stingray with the plug on the bottom, and this gets in the way no matter how I sit. Other basses may not have this problem. There also a nice feature where you can select from a bunch of drum beats. That’s really cool when you don’t want to plug in a track/song and you want to explore something more spontaneous. There’s one thing that’s really annoying, and I’m not 100% sure where it comes from: when you plug in your tablet/phone with a dual-ended audio cable, whenever you even touch that cable you get a LOUD crack in your ears that leaves them ringing. I haven’t figured out a way to lower the massive sound blast. All the cables seem to do it, so it doesn’t seem to be the cables. The iPad doesn’t do that with regular headphones. Soooo... must be the Vox. Right? Dunno? Overall, I recommend the VOX.

I had one of these a while ago, it came with a bass i bought used. I sold it but definitely regret that decision, here we are several months later and I purchased this from Amazon. First thing, it’s very small and lightweight. I for sure wasn’t expecting much but once I plugged in headphones and turned it on, mind blown! This inexpensive, small and lightweight piece of gear sounds amazing! Also nice is you can really hear the difference between different basses, pickups, settings, etc… Volume is definitely not an issue, it is loud! My only wish is for this to include Bluetooth. It has an aux input, so it works great to plug in another headphone amp if you’re jamming with a friend, or to play along to music from your phone, mp3 player, etc., but Bluetooth would make it easier and make this next level. So if you’re needing a great way to practice without disturbing others or just want to keep it private, this is a great addition to your gear. You definitely won’t regret it!

I sold my bass amp when I moved into my apartment and was getting tired of playing only through my computer. This is a great solution! It plugs right into my bass, I pop in my headphones, and it just works. Really good sound, gets pretty loud and even has a tone control. I also like the drum options, good for practicing scales and arpeggios, or just jamming. If that's not enough, I plugged my phone into the AUX jack and wow that makes it so easy to learn a new song. Just start the music and play along, really amazing. Totally happy with this, 100% satisfied.

Because I practiced unplugged for a long time, I developed the habit of plucking really hard (so I could hear the notes without amplification). I wanted to develop more "touch" and economy of motion, so I started practicing with my amp... which makes noise (not always ideal). My amp has a headphone jack, but it's not portable at all, which also limited practice options. Now, with the Vox, I can hear all the notes clearly without making a racket and practice anywhere I want. I really like the "aux in" feature - I can play tracks from my phone and hear both the bass and the track in my earphones. It also works with my metronome, which has a headphone jack. The unit is easy to use. All the controls are fairly intuitive. Excellent sound quality, in my opinion, with several options for tone. My only concern is that the plastic housing, jacks, and dials feel kind of cheap - it almost felt like I was going to break something the first few times I used it. This Vox unit is listed at around $50. Not equivilant by any means, but for $60 - 65, I can get a bullet-proof Boss pedal (DS-1 for example) with a metal housing. I feel like Vox could have made it a little sturdier without breaking the bank. UPDATE (11/21/2024): I used the hell out of this thing for the last four months. One thing I noticed was that the batteries that came with the unit didn't last long, but I put new ones in and got a solid 20-30 hours of playing time (but should point out that I never used the built-in drum machine feature). Recently I was practicing and accidentally stepped on the "aux in" cord, causing it to lightly tug on the Vox unit, which immediately caused the housing to separate and cracked the "aux in" jack socket. Snapping the housing together was easy, but my favorite feature, the "aux in" jack, was no longer useable. This validated my concern about the cheap housing and components. Unfortunately, most of the pocket amp designs I've seen look like they share the same basic design (and are probably made in the same factory, just with different chips and branding). I ended up replacing it with a "Valeton Rushead Max", which has similar features, but a different design. The Valeton is also rechargeable (USB-C). So far the Valeton seems more robust. UPDATE (2/19/2025): I used the Valeton product for about 3 months, then it died (wiring issue, wouldn't work without jiggling). So, NOT more robust. I'll probably buy another Vox and be extra, super careful with it. So, full circle: If you're trying to decide between the Valeton and Vox, I'd go with the Vox. If you get the Vox, be very gentle with it.

La trasportabilità è il motivo per cui lo compri, il suono è il motivo per cui lo continui ad usare. È vero, se alzi troppo il tono si sente un ronzio fastidioso (punto che potrebbe essere risolto in una eventuale versione 2), ma se si mantiene entro 5-6 è minimamente notabile. Il suono è estremamente naturale e restituisce le giuste sfumature proprie dello strumento: un Jazz suona come un Jazz, un Precision come un Precision, un Music Man come un Music Man... Non ci sono lag di sorta. L'impedenza dell'uscita richiede cuffie con un'impedenza non troppo alta (per le DT770 Pro da 80 Ohm ho avuto necessità di accoppiargli un amplificatore portatile), ma con cuffie da 16/24 Ohm è una belva! Poca variabilità di suoni che non cambia tantissimo il timbro ma solo il gain di ingresso, pur rimanendo sotto il limite del distorto. Ottima invece la variabilità dei ritmi delle Drum Machine integrate che, unite ad un ottimo ingresso AUX, permettono di portare il basso anche in vacanza o in giro per casa senza aver necessità d'altro. Forse potrebbe essere un po' più robusto: le plastiche sono molto leggere e, seppur non rischi di lesionarlo facilmente, non è del tutto impossibile che la scatolina si apra lungo la giunzione.

Ich bin Bass Anfänger und nutze den Batterie AMP zum erlernen des Instrumentes auf einem Aktiv/Passiv Bass. Einen teuren Bassverstärker mit noch mehr Möglichkeiten brauche ich noch nicht. Man kann: - sich selbst beim Bass spielen auf Kopfhörern hören (ich nutze 32 Ohm Beyerdynamic, super Sound) - sich selbst beim Bass spielen auf einer HiFi Anlage oder auf aktiv Boxen hören (den "Kopfhörerausgang" einfach an eine HiFi Anlage oder an aktive Boxen mit eigenem Strom stöpseln) - eine zweite Audio Quelle (!) über 3,5 mm Klinke zuführen und diese begleiten, zB Metronom von Handy, Youtube Lern Videos vom PC, Mac, Tablet etc. etc. Der AMP hat genug Bumms, um auch passive Bässe ohne eingebauten PreAmp hörbar zu machen. Der AMP hat kein Metronom eingebaut, sondern nur 3 Songbeispiele. Braucht man nicht, Metronom und Liedbegleitung geht alles über den AUX in. Ist dabei super abgemischt und gut hörbar. Das über den "Kopfhörerausgang" ausgegebene Audiosignal kann man theorethisch auch am PC/Mac oder HiFi Anlage aufnemen. Zum üben für die nächsten Monate vor allem mit Hilfe von Video Tutorials reicht mir das Ding allemal. Top!

Justo lo que esperaba, con sólo conectarlo al bajo y poner audífonos puedes tocar, incluso tiene una entrada para auxiliar en caos de que quieras reproducir una pista al mismo tiempo, trae perillas para volumen, ganancia y tono y un botón para habilitar un metrónomo, este artículo es perfecto para practicar y es totalmente portátil, nada pesado, la entrega del producto fue rápida y llegó en el tiempo estimado

(Cela dit, sur une basse de 5Kg c'est négligeable) Le jack 6.35 pivote a 180°, ce qui permet de le mettre dans n'importe quelle position. Le son est très propre. Quand on a pas des centaines d'euros a mettre dans un ampli pour jouer au casque c'est le top. Il fonctionne avec 2 piles AAA (LR03) fournies et est simple à utiliser. Il dispose d'une boîte à rythmes qui va bien et propose 3 styles dans 3déclinaisons chacun soit 9 rythmes en tout dont un métronome classique. Après, on ne peut pas régler le tempo mais on ne vas pas trop en demander non plus 😁. On peut régler le volume général, la tonalité et le volume du rythme et il dispose d'une sortie casque et d'une entrée aux. en jack 3.5mm. Pour moi, un excellent produit.
