Thankyou Authors for this wonderful book

Computer networks by Tannenbaum is not exactly a study book but the treasure of knowledge explained in a simple way.The author is trying to be in friends with the reader. The simple example is oh...wait I will click a photo on it! Thanks author I brought it as a syllabus prescribed book but you are awesome! The book has a lot of fun along knowledge with it and sometimes the author is inspiring us and sometimes he even takes things serious! One of the best authors I have ever seen!Guys don't be reluctant to buy this book.Cons:No contents pageIt is a good book to read when you have lot of time but never a night before exam, since the author is very friendly he puts lot of gen knowledge in it (surely not a con)but we have to search and find what is written in our syllabus under a main heading!

The Content is superb, not the publisher.

The content of the book is really nice, I just sifted through the book today. But what shocked me the most was the quality of the book, as in the quality of publishing, the paper is like some cheap newspaper or a 50 paisa laser xerox paper. It is really shocking that a publisher like Pearson has degraded their publishing quality so much. It used to be a premium book publisher when I was a kid.If someone from Pearson is reading this, then I would like to tell you one thing, nowadays people do not generally buy hardcopy books, they rather get a pdf copy from their friends and read it on their laptops or in a rare case they rent it from some library or other means which doesn't involve spending money. So people who actually buy books are real lovers of reading them. And if you give them such a bad experience through such pathetic publishing quality, they will really stop buying books published by you guys. I mean, you wouldn't even want to use a highlighter on this book, fearing that it might go through the page to other side.I only bought this book because of the name Tanenbaum on it, not Pearson. I really wish that the author changes the publishing rights from Pearson to some other publisher.

Great book

Great book for learning Network.... It gives all the ideas about the network and everything is given in details ..... The book is divided with the 7layers and each layer is discussed with everything in it

Great for understanding comp Networks from basics

So far good, useful for understanding basics of computer networks. And, not for coding just theoretical. But, completely fills my network knowledge gap. Will update with precise review once I finish it reading.

Easy to understand.

To be honest I thought this book would be just geeky, but turns out it the best book I have seen on networking.

Great textbook, presentation not so great in this adaptation

No complaints about the content of the book: it's an excellent, enjoyable and thoroughly readable. My only complaint about this Indian adaptation is that a table of contents is missing and sections in chapters are named without the chapter numbers (chapters are not numbered at all!) which makes it difficult to navigate through.

Computer Networks by Andrew S. Tanenbaum

Very Very good book. I had the 1st edition of this book when it first came out. Since then, networking has taken a huge stride. This book covers the basics as well as goes into the much deeper sections of Computer Netwroks, wireless systems etc. A must for anybody who wants to learn about networking in general.

Satisfactory, but a word of warning.

Most universities prescribe the 4th Edition, which has a more detailed approach to some of the topics. This edition (5th) lacks quite a bit, as they've combined certain topics. Ensure that the edition you buy is the correct edition that you require.
