Hammer broke after two days.
Hammer top broke and flew off breaking expensive China in my house. Otherwise the coconut opener is great.

DULL
The tool is REALLY dull. It doesn't cut through the coconut at all, no matter how hard you bang on it. The first coconut i tried to open i had to bang so hard that it broke in half. It should cut through the skin easily if it was sharpened properly. I would have to sharpen it myself to make it work the way it should, very frustrating.

Easy to use
I used to have to hack away at coconuts with a butcher knife, worried about losing a finger every time. This tool gets rid of that fear! With a few whacks, I have a clean cut on the coconut! It works best if I place the coconut on the ground because I can put more force into it, but I've also been able to open coconuts with this while in my car (I wasn't driving!). A great investment if you want to take the trouble out of opening coconut!

ATTENTION COCONUT LOVERS
Good quality, i now eat 2 coconuts a day (atleast). I am a coconut enthusiast! It will only work if the husk is still entact because thats what that it holds onto. Also..it takes a good 30seconda to 1.5 minutes of hammering for it to open but dont give up! find the right surface..for me..on top of a chair works good!

Terrific product! But it takes about 30 wacks to get through to the coconut water & be able to bend back the lid. That doesn't matter to me because, at least, all of that good coconut water is not lost.

Need some practice
It needs some practice to know how much you need to hit the cutting head down in coconut. If sink the head too deep, it is very hard to get the coconut cap to come out from the head. Too shallow, it won't open. If you get it just right, just pivot the handle the cap will loose and stay on the coconut.
