2nd one..first lasted 5 yrs..4 to give cycles a week ..plug seemed to get hot on the last use..bought another..we use it for kitty water stations to reduce bladder crystals..seems to work.. I like the 750 watt version because I can use another device on the same circuit and the breaker does not trip. Recommended

This is the second CO-Z 1.1 Gallon Water Distiller we have purchased. We are not as happy with this newer model as the last because they changed the design a bit and I don't believe they improved it. The designer removed the straw that previously was attached to the lid which work worked well. The new design made us uncomfortable that the distilled water would actually drip into the receptacle so we attached the straw from the older model and attached it to the new. The new design also removed the only place to hold onto to remove the lid once the water was distilled. It is very awkward to remove the lid now. They should not have "fixed" that which was not broken.

This machine is tiny but mighty. As opposed to larger $300-$400 reverse osmosis systems I looked at. Reverse osmosis is very pure distilled water, you must mineralize it with salt with low iodine percentage, high mineral and magnesium content. This distiller machine is expensive but also budget friendly. This water is good for household appliances, not for drinking unless you remineralize it. You can smell the purity of the water after the first mandatory runs using the machine. Running the machine at least once is required before using the water. You can discard it into your plants. Distilled water is for used for steam irons, humidifiers and CPAP machines for sleep apnea. It doesn’t make that much noise but in the video you can hear it is loud when you’re near it. It sounds like a box fan or my air purifier on full blast lol. I only have it 4 stars because my parents said it’s a waste of money as opposed to buying from the store and wasting electricity. Also you have to check the machine from time to time. It does get warm after 30 minutes when it starts to produce water. It is also pretty fun to watch. I’ve only had it for about 3-5 days but I think it’s good if you’re using it for yourself. I didn’t want to buy distilled water at the store. Making trips to stock up for the week along with plastic waste was not something I wanted to deal with. It can range from $2-$4 per gallon. Plus I need it for my 6.5L humidifier I bought to add moisture to my room because my dry skin. I have not had it long enough to talk about longevity and durability. However for the price I think it will last you 4-5 years with proper care. The quality is good. The instructions are easy to follow and the instructions match the timeframe when the water is about to start warming up and dispensing pure distilled water. After 30 minutes of the machine being turning on it starts the water production. 4.5-5 hours is when you get your gallon of hot water. Leave the machine alone to cool after you turn it off and unplug it, about 15-20 minutes. The steam will be hot but if you leave it alone to cool you won’t risk any injuries. The provided cleaner makes it easy to clean the machine as well. I would purchase again if I lived by myself for my appliances.

I can’t speak to the longevity of my new water distiller, because I have only had it a week, but I CAN speak to its performance. Picture 1: A clean distiller. (I had run a couple of gallons through already, so it has stains from the previous distillations, but I cleaned it between every run.) Picture 2: After running one gallon of city tap water through. Picture 3: The sediment from that one gallon of tap water. Picture 4: The sediment left from one gallon of tap water that had been pre-filtered through my Berkey carbon filters. I’m glad to see that my Berkey carbon filters have been removing a majority of the impurities in my water (including about half of the Fluoride), but I am very happy to have my own water distiller to remove the rest! The reason I do not use filters that are stated to remove Fluoride from water: It has been shown that in the process of removing Fluoride from the water, the filters put Aluminum INTO the water. Although I don’t want to consume either of those, given a choice, I would rather consume the Fluoride because it can be displaced and removed from the body by Iodine supplementation (I use Lugol's 2% Iodine Solution), whereas Aluminum is very difficult to remove from the body and is the cause of a lot of health problems including dementia-related issues. Taste test: I didn’t expect to be able to taste a difference between my Berkey filtered water and the distilled water . . . but I DID! It is difficult to describe the taste of water, but I would have to stay that the distilled water tasted . . . “fresh” . . . “pure.” Compared to the distilled water, my Berkey water tastes flat, and definitely has a flavor to it. A flavor that I would not have really noticed had I not tasted it right after the distilled water. The distilled water actually had a “tingling” type of taste. If “tingling” can be classified as a taste. Cost: Although I do not buy water from the store, if I did, at one gallon per day (my typically usage for myself and my animals), it would take about 56 days of buying one gallon of distilled water per day at Walmart (online price), to pay for this machine. So, in less than two months it has paid for itself and is all savings from that point on. Not to mention that the water you buy at the store has been sitting in plastic for who-knows-how-long and in who-knows-what-conditions (in a hot warehouse?, left to sit in the sun?), and those plastic chemicals, which there are over 10,000 chemicals that go into making plastics (BPA is just ONE of those 10,000), have been leaching into the store-bought distilled water. Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend everyone distill their own water, and so far, this machine is working great for me.
