Is synthetic retinyl palmitate safe

If you are not a mouse previously exposed to diisopropyl adipate that's just gotten this rubbed onto your skin by lab researchers, you've got nothing to worry about. What's more dangerous is going without vitamin A at all, and if you have diabetes or hypothyroidism or certain other health conditions, you can't convert beta carotene to vitamin A. It's either eat liver to get enough, or take something like this. And this supplement is a good deal because the base oil is more stable than soy oil or corn oil. Note: If you are pregnant, don't go above 10,000 IU of vitamin A per day from all sources. If you get other sources of actual vitamin A in your diet (the fetus can't convert beta carotene either, by the way), look for a supplement of around 5000-8000 IU to be on the safe side. Do get enough vitamin A, though. We have a lot of kids being born now whose mothers didn't get enough--it's not making the news because it's not obvious to most laypersons.

Why does this contain highly refined soybean oil? Why can't you find a better way?

That’s a lie. Soybean oil is not listed as an ingredient. I just looked at this product on their website.
