Teacher’s Perspective Review: Semester Journals for Student Note-Taking As an educator, I introduced structured journals that have truly transformed the way my class engages with the material. The design of these journals is exceptional. The lined pages provide a structured format that encourages students to take organized and coherent notes. The absence of spirals or staples on the spine adds to their durability, ensuring that they withstand daily use without falling apart and lays flat. The blank covers, both front and back, are a blank canvas for students to personalize it. The inside covers is a perfect space for charts, graphs, or a table of contents that enhances the functionality of the journals. This feature encourages students to not only organize their notes but also to summarize key concepts and refer back to them easily. It has been beneficial for students to quickly locate important information. One practical aspect I appreciate is the size of these journals. They’re perfect for maintaining in-class files or making them convenient to transport while not being bulky. There are about 55 pages lined on each side. It is perfect for classes that have notes that fill a page or two per day for a semester. At the end of the semester, it is genuinely rewarding to see students leave with their journals filled with their hard work and reflections. The pride they take in what they’ve created is palpable, and many have expressed how they plan to keep their journals as a reminder of their progress and learning experiences. This culmination of the semester not only showcases their academic growth but also reinforces the value of the journaling process. These structured journals have become an integral part of my classroom. They promote organized note-taking, foster creativity, and help students take ownership of their learning. I wholeheartedly recommend them to fellow educators looking for a reliable and effective tool to enrich their students’ academic experience.

This is the only notebook I've found that has all the three of the features I prefer: college ruling, laying flat, and inexpensive. I carry these notebooks with me every day. These notebooks are perfect for taking notes in class or journaling. They're good in an academic context especially, and they wouldn't be out of place in a professional context. Paper The paper is a smooth cream color and does not bleed, even with the somewhat heavy ink of the Pilot G-2. The paper is of a high enough quality that pens glide rather than dragging. I was using some bright white stationary before these notebooks, and I have noticed that the cream color is substantially easier on the eyes. Cover The cover is similar to a tan construction paper. You could easily draw on it if you'd like to "customize" the cover of your notebooks. Personally, I write the date range of the contained notes on the outside of the notebook. I haven't had any problems with the cover. Binding The binding is stable and allows the notebook to not only lay flat, but fold around completely. I appreciate this because, in a pinch, you can write some notes without a hard surface to lean on. I have not had any problems with the durability, which was one of my concerns at this price point. There are two possible downsides to consider before buying these notebooks. First, 60 pages is not a lot, so if you are a heavy note-taker, you might fill one notebook per week. I do. If you'd prefer to keep a longer-running notebook, you should look elsewhere. Second, as I mentioned, the notebook cover is similar to a construction paper, and it would not protect your notes from spilled liquids. Just be careful with drinks on the same surface.

These are probably my favorite notebooks I've ever bought! They're small enough to put in a purse, or even a pocket, but they're still not tiny! I write in mine at least once a day, I'm already on my second one. Each notebook is 30 pages, or 60 if you count each side of the paper as a page. I think my favorite part of these is that I can draw on the covers because it doesn't have the typical finish of a normal notebook. The one thing I will warn you about is the binding - it may slowly come undone the more you open/close the notebook. What I did was tie the loose ends off and that problem was solved! I'll 100% be buying more of these once I run out :)

I chose to order these specifically because they are small composition books. Often I find a composition book may be more pages than is wanted for a particular purpose. I knew what I wanted three of them for. The rest are in the office/school supplies and will find purposes soon enough. Most composition books have heavy, thick, stiff covers. These have kraft paper covers. My son is excited about decorating his in his own style. I find by opening them 360 degrees I have enough thickness to write on them in my lap. Update: We are enjoying using these as things come up. We have acrylic paint pens that we have used to customize covers. They are small enough to tuck one inside my Bible for notes and prayers.

I am finding these very useful. They are exactly as advertised.

I really like this little notebooks. I use them for work (I work as a Cognitive Therapist) to write important information that I need to remember. It doubles as my brain. It fits perfectly in my iPad case and it takes me about 1-2 months to get through a notebook. The binding holds up well and it lays flat. I often fold it over and have had no issues with pages falling out or the notebook falling apart. I will keep buying them!

What's nice about these journals is that they're perfect for decorating the covers, whether with pens/pencils for sketching or markers. Got these for my classroom and my students love them!

Bought them for work to organize myself! Little smaller than expected but are nice!

I love these notebooks. I use them for so many things. I have even gifted individual ones in baskets or to my husband or kids for school. They are a decent size and lined. Good quality paper. I have ordered this type twice now and will order again.
