CCNA Security Version 1.1 Lab Manual Edition

At first I was a little upset because the book is word for word the same as the previous version, besides using CCP, but with over 100 pages of ASA labs I was pleased to buy the book. ASA is pretty much CCNA Security and knowing SDM, ASDM, CCP is big. Its nice to have pages over digital too because I can make notes on the sheets. This is one you can keep in your library and the author describes the labs enough for you to know what you are doing. I suggest either buying a stack or configuring GNS3. ASA 5505 is the main one used in the ASA labs and you can get one for about 200 on ebay or just spend some time configuring one with an ASA image in GNS3. Good luck!

More than what you need to pass the CCNA security examI built a home lab with most of the equipment required 3 ISR routers and 2 switches on a small rack - 1 access router to make things convenient. I ditched the ASA router and did not complete the last 5 chapters of this book which requires at least an ASA 5505 and still passed the exam. None of the stuff that is on the last 5 chapters is in the exam or any exam dump that I studied - but it will sure as hell help to know during any interview.

Price was right. Helped get me moving towards creating a lab at least. I haven't finished the book but the format is more welcoming than the admin guide or the cert text. Must have for those that want hands on experience.

I bought this book to build a lab to learn about Cisco Switch Configuration. I did not pay attention to the title and purchased this one, but it was a pleasant surprise. Even-though this is far to advanced for me, I was able to learn terminology about network security. After I get comfortable with switch configuration and routing, I will definitely start on the security aspect.

Having extra materials when studying is always helpful. I don't regret the extra couple of bucks I spent to get the lab manuals to accompany the books.
