what is difference between control solution and test strips?

test strips are use to take readings of your blood sugar. they plug into the meter at the top. The solution is used once in a while to test your meter accuracy. you put a test strip inthe meteer at the top and use a small amount on solution instead of your blood to get a reading to check if the meter is reading correctly

Where on vial can I find what the reading/concentration should be? it is reading 122 but im not sure if that is good or bad

The Control Range info should be on the test strip container, not the Control Solution vial. If you're using Level 3 (Mid) Control Solution, 122 is within range.

Why is the control solution not included? I paid $80 and now I have to pay more to test the quality of the test strips? Not happy with this.

The solution only has a six month expiraion date once opened and it only takes a single drop. Would be nice if came in smaller container and cost less. I can't see ever using a whole vial before it expires. I'll only use 6 drops in six months. Bummer.

The expiration for the bottle I purchased July 2016 is January 2018 - more than adequate time for use. Open and use before the expiration - once opened recommended use is within 3 months (I discard after 2 months) as the solution will decrease in effectiveness.

It is something one must have if diabetes is a concern. It really helps verify your meter. I had doubts on my meter and used used the control solution and the result confirmed my suspicion - the meter was not good anymore. To be highly recommended
