Classy add on for the GSG 1911-22.
I ordered this to dress up a new GSG 1911-22. The old GSGs had wood double diamond grips but the new ones come with plastic faux wood pieces. I'm building the new weapon with some performance and some cosmetic add on items. The rose wood panels and the soft rubber wrap around is a really great look. The grips are comfortable and improve the feel when shooting. They do increase the distance from front to back of the grip but not the trigger reach. The only problem with fit is the right side of the safety slot on the grips need to be lengthened. When the safety is disengaged there isn't room for the lever to move inside the grip. It took maybe 5 minutes to remove material with a Dremel tool to fix this minor problem. The rest of the fit was good. These grips appear to be high quality. I would recommend these for your 1911 platform.

Great grips, really sets off my 1911
If you have a 1911 and are looking for new grips, buy these. They look G-R-E-A-T looking, very comfortable and have held up well. The wood looks fantastic while the soft grip rubber molds to your have like a glove. My Commander's original grips were very thin, and the grip screws were very short at .190", so I had to get longer grip screws. I picked some fancy hex headed stainless steel screws .250" long from Brownell's. After a little shortening to .230", they worked out perfect. (Note- The grip screws on a 1911 are a funky .150"-50 TPI. You won't find them at any hardware store. If you find a size at a hardware store that "looks like it will fit" they might, but you will end up with stripped grip screw bushings if you try to use them. Either order the correct ones or go to a gun shop, one *WITH* a real gunsmith to get the proper ones. I did a little work on my grips before installing them. I used Loctite "Black Max" toughened cyanoacrylate adhesive to bond the underside of the rubber grips to the wood so the seam would be tight where the rubber meets the wood. I also bonded an aluminum 3mm flat washer .0150" thick in place of the clear plastic ones between the rubber and wood where the grip screw goes to keep the rubber from "bulging" around the screw heads when they were tightened. There is also a seam on the front of the finger grooves I sanded smooth strictly for looks. I also bonded the Pachmyr emblems in place and removed a tiny bit of wood on the top rear grip panel to clear my 1911's safety. I took pictures and will be posting this project on the Instructables web site. The only possible negative I can see is I will be careful to prevent any solvents or lead remover solutions getting on the rubber grip part. I am not sure it would cause any problems but I'll err on the side of safety. The other thing is you may need to remove a tiny bit of wood to clear your safety, or on both sides if you pistol has ambidextrous safetys. As I stated, these will fit both the Government model and the Commander models. They will *not* fit the Officer's model. You won't regret buying these grips. Everyone who sees them at the Rifle club I belong to wants to know where to get them.

almost perfect.
I love these grips 90%. the panels look nice at it fits my Taurus matchgrade perfectly. I have two criticisms, and they're both extremely minimal, that being said I didn't read it in any other reviews and it would likely have changed the grips I ended up going with. Criticism 1: the "control of rubber" they talk about in the product description is EXACTLY that, rubber. For those of us used to dealing with Hogue style grips, we expect either a high grade silicon, or a softened polymer when we're looking for rubbery, these are not that they are rubber. Criticism 2: the rubber knurled portion of the grip is actually two separate rubber pieces welded together, not sure why they did that, other than it cuts down on your mold size. The issue with that they didn't grind down the weld seam on the grip, which makes it look even cheaper. Again, the grips feel great and give an already wonderful 1911 even more control, I would have just liked to see better finish or better material on the contour.

Great combination of wood looks and rubber grip!
I bought a Rock Island .45 ACP. The gun seems very nice for the money, but the grips were horrendous. I knew the first thing I wanted to do is replace the grips. The front strap of the gun is plain (no checkering) so I knew I wanted a rubber grip of some sort. But I also love the classical look and richness of a nice wood grip. As I was searching, I came across the Pachmayr "Deluxe Pacwood" (or Packwood) grips. Reviews for the most part looked good and I have been pleased with all previous Pachmayr purchases I have made. I decided to give it a try. I am more pleased than I can say. It didn't require any fitting as others have complained. I also used LockTite on the screws to avoid the other complaint I have seen of the screws working loose because to the wood/rubber combination. As I mentioned, slick, easy install. The grips feel fantastic in my hand. But the most pleasant surprise is the wood on the grips looks just awesome! It turned out much better than the pictures I have seen on the internet. The information I have read says the wood is walnut. Whatever the wood is, mine is well figured and a rich, darker look like Brazilian rosewood. Great grips, great product, great value!!! I truly couldn't be more pleased.

Very attractive and comfortable grips
I purchased these grips for a Weihrauch HW45 air pistol (non-restricted in Canada), which happens to be compatible with Colt 1911 aftermarket Pachmayr and Hogue grips. As others have commented, the photo does not do justice to the colour of the wood - it's absolutely gorgeous, and a large improvement over the functional but plain HW45 walnut grips. I had to modify slightly the grips; the top screw holes had too shallow a counter-bore and the screws in those holes sat just proud of the gripping surface. While this didn't interfere with my grip, it didn't look right. I simply drilled the counter-bore a few mm deeper, allowing the screws to be properly recessed. Problem solved. The rubber portion of the grip is hollow, as other buyers have observed. But at least for me this isn't a concern and isn't even noticed during use. This was a great purchase for me and would enhance the appearance of any pistol.

I find this grip attractive and comfortable. It fits my hands better than the Hogue ...
Purchased for my CCI Phantom paintball marker. I find this grip attractive and comfortable. It fits my hands better than the Hogue wrap-around grips that the Phantom comes with from the factory. There is a small gap between the top finger nub and the trigger guard, but the finger nubs are of a soft rubber and doesn't bother me.
