This bulb was very hot after 1 hour of use (test). i could not unscrew it with bare hands- had to use a towel. i have a 150w lamp. is this normal?

I just checked mine. It has be on for about 5 hours. The base of the bulb was hot, but the glass was barely warm. I checked a couple of other LED bulbs, different wattage and brands, and they were all the same.

Is this an A19 or an A21 bulb?

This is an A21 LED light bulb, which has a standard E26 medium screw base, the same as A19 LED light bulb. Hence you can use these A21 LED light bulb where A19 bulbs can be used.

Can this be used in a three way fixture with an old fashoined tow rating 0f 150w?

In my 3-way older lamps, any of the new LEDs "work" but if it's a multi-level lamp/bulb then the bulb only works on the middle level (in an old 150W bulb, it'd be the 100W level of light). The middle setting on this bulb feels/looks to be brighter than the old 100W (middle setting) likely b/c LEDs are brighter.

Can I use these in a 60watt max fixture?

The "60W MAX" labeling on many household lamp fixtures concerns the heat generated by old school incandescent bulbs; using, say, a 100W incandescent bulb in a fixture rated "60W MAX" it would get way too hot. So, "60W MAX" limits the actual power used by a bulb, NOT the "light equivalent" of an LED bulb. Since these "150W" LED bulbs actually only use 20 or 23W, they are BELOW the 60W MAX rating of your fixture, and you can use these bulbs in that fixture provided A) they fit, and B) the fixture is NOT enclosed.
