The Level 1 Biff, Chip and Kipper Stories, written by Roderick Hunt and illustrated by Alex Brychta, provide a rich story context to help develop language comprehension and decoding skills with simple first words and sentences. First Words introduce children to simple words and the characters' names. Books contain inside cover notes to support children in their reading. Help with childrens reading development is also available at www.oxfordowl.co.uk. Contains one copy of each of the six titles at Oxford Reading Level 1. Review: Excellent - Excellent Books. Highly recommended. Review: Perfect for a starter reader - I was delighted with this set of books. Here's why: - They're a nice manageable size for toddlers and pre-schoolers - Pictures are excellent, colourful and lots to look at and point out - Text is nice and large and not too wordy - Sounds good when you read it so you can keep the interest easily - The stories are fun and also relevant to everyday things for young ones My toddler (21 months) loves me reading the Ice Cream story and laughs when the ice cream SPLATS over someone's head. I take care to emphasize words and make it all sound fun which is easy to do with these books. She likes to point out items in the pictures and if I can I associate the object with the written word. Very good value for money.

Quality reading for pre school children
This is a very good reading scheme. I bought it for my grandchild (who is nearly 4) to introduce her to the series of stories. The pictures are very charming too. I only took off one star because it would be better if it cost a little less.

Great book!!!
My daughter put her school copy of "The Apple" down the back of the radiator... Amazon to the rescue, and a pound cheaper than the school charge. These books are great for helping children engage in stories. It encourages them to look at the images, to describe what they see. With the added bonus of not being expensive!!
