Get one of these in your toolbox
Had no idea this would be so useful. I hadn’t seen these before. Did some DIY woodwork and this just seemed to be there for most of my marking needs. Good quality for my scenario: light weight aluminium, I guess more durable than a plastic version. Clear, durable markings. Wouldn’t be without one now.

Cheap vs nice
The good points:1. The price2. The strength - very thick and robust for an aluminium piece3. Clearly visible numbers and markingsThe bad points:The finish - pretty poor, especially the hand dressed tips.The accuracy - fine for guiding a straight cross-cut with the circular saw but not much moreOverall feel/ quality - pretty poor and definitely not something to boast about in your tool kit!
