Introduction to Healthcare Information Technology

I took the Healthcare IT test 3 times and failed each time because the information that I needed to pass the test just wasn't available. Someone told me about this book by Mark Ciampa, so I ordered it. After studying for two weeks with this new material, I was able to finally pass the test! If you are looking to pass, you WILL need this book. It is everything you need to know!

Great overview, excellent compendium of a broad field. I have no need of taking the certification so I cannot speak to its efficacy for that purpose; however I have passed a number of certain with CompTIA and they always provide enough info. For anyone entering the field laterally from IT or the health side, this is a great primer.

After reading some reviews on here and on other sites I decided to chose this book as my main study guide. I read this book many times, and I learned it thoroughly.I have worked in healthcare IT for 7 years.Having said that, I did pass the exam but it was very close. The only reason I passed this exam, I believe was due to my work experience. Do not use this book as your only reference to write the HIT exam.I feel this book left out about 15% of material that was covered on the actual test. I wrote and passed this test earlier today.

A great book giving you information about Healthcare IT, requirements, dates for required installation, all the equipment needed in initiate government requirements, etc. A great guideline for implementing Healthcare IT.

I got my HIT-001 certification on the first attempt. This book goes through almost everything on the exam. Good investment.

The book itself is very general although it covers a wide range of topics. As of this writing, I have not yet taken the exam and can't comment on the author's ability to cover the required knowledge areas.The advertised online exam material and practice exams are not available - DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK if you want to use the online exams to practice. The publisher stated that this is a 2013 published book and while the book was released early, the online content and exams are not yet available through their website. The publisher includes an access code and website, although the content is not available when you attempt to use it. I spoke with Cengage and the customer service is poor.There are now multiple books published on this subject and I would recommend trying one of those - as I stated, the content is vague and there is no online practice exams or content as advertised by the authors and publisher.Best of luck....UPDATE 08/28/12:I took and passed the CompTIA+ HIT-001 Exam today. If you are intending on purchasing this book for this exam, please review Appendix A as it has the exam objectives outlined nicely. There is additional information in this book that is not covered on the exam and will distract from the core objectives needed for the exam.

Came right away and was in the shape as described.Great book for my college class, I really enjoy it.
