If printing words, will they come out reversed when ironed on?

Yes they do. You need to select ‘mirror’ option on your printer - expensive mistake!!

Does this print a white background?

No. It prints a transparent background, which usually works fine for light colour or white fabric. If you want to print white background, check out Raimarket Dark Transfer Paper, it works fine on light and Dark both fabrics keeping the white background.

Can I print, then leave it overnight before transferring to garment?

Yes - That is absolutely fine. However, just store the papers in dry place, the print can get damaged if it gets damp or wet before transfer.
