Two years ago I planted some smaller hydrangeas under a window, and because of the late shipping date and snow coming too soon, I never got a chance to dig out the grass that would be under the shrubs, so just planted them surrounded by grass. I figured I'd do it in the spring, or that hopefully the grass would eventually die out without enough light. Nope, grass just kept growing and I had to use a small cordless trimmer to cut the grass around those plants. I really wanted to get the grass out, but I could never figure out a method to actually get between the plants to remove the grass without killing myself and the plants and saw this blade. With this tool I was able to dig out all the grass from around and under the plants in a short time. The tool actually rips up the roots just by slicing into the soil, no more back-breaking job trying to shovel under the roots anymore. I've got a 50' section of fence I want to remove a 1.5' border of grass from, and at least 35' of that is around existing plants, daylilies, other flowers, that I've been dreading and putting off. This tool will make that job so much easier, it just became indispensable and is a must have from now on.

I am constantly finding new projects that this can do very well. Sure, the typical trimming of bushes and vines is so much quicker than snips and cutters. Just had to dig out/cut out overgrown plants to repair a broken sprinkler. Shovel and machete were practically useless, but this tool hacked out all the undergrowth in record time. I appreciate a professional landscaper/gardener for showing me the way.

This sod cutter is a huge help in the garden. The curved blade makes weed clearing a breeze. I have used it for two summers now, and the blade is still sharp. I would recommend this!

It cuts well on the down stroke, but the upward stroke is awkward as it pulls on the sod. A straight edge, with no serrations, would have made much cleaner cuts.

I didn't realize how handy this little tool is until I had to reach into the center of a sharp spined palm to trim some wayward shoots. Of course I always put on long sleeved UPF 50+ shirts and some gardening gauntlet gloves to avoid injury, both from the spines and any hidden spiders, scorpions, fire ants or bees/hornets. The best use that I have found is for cutting smaller green woody plants with a sawing motion and then using the hooked blade to draw the severed material away from the center of the plant. It's nice to have the extra reach of the handle to keep from having to stick your arm too far into dark places where potential danger might lie in waiting. This Nessagro Astron is a great addition to your gardening/landscaping tools for all those tight little jobs where finess is a better approach than brute strength. Just slide your arm and the tool into a small space, place the sawblade on top of the offending branch and pull it through and out. Job done.

This is a quality knife that performs. I have used it to cut long runs of sod that have grown over the curb, I have encountered stones, roots etc., and the knife still keeps cutting as good as when I have started even though the teeth have gotten more blunt, naturally. I am very pleased.
