Replacement Blade for Dozuki Dovetail Saw 8" Cross Cut

This product is excellent for fine cutting and is so sharp, it gets the job done fast. Very pleased with it.

First, I wouldn't call this a dovetail saw... unless you are cutting dovetails in very thin material. The teeth on this saw are VERY fine and the plate is thin. Despite having a stiff back, this saw can deflect very easily. In addition because the teeth are so fine, it's going to take a very long time to cut into thick-ish hardwoods. So what is it good for? Exactly what the product name says! Kumiko work. I cut my jigumi (grid work) half lap joinery by hand, and this saw is absolutely perfect for that task. I have about a half a dozen saws that excel at that task that I have been using for years, but this saw is lightyears better. It's just long enough to stay true when I have 12 to 16 pieces ganged at once, but not overly long. More appreciated is the sort depth. I only cut down 5 to 6mm so the short distance between the teeth and the spine help keep the saw true as it's not tippy.Lastly the spine is really heavy. I don't need to apply any downward pressure at all. The kerf is about as thin as my marking knife so the half lap joints come out perfectly (as long as I lay them out perfectly). For delicate work, this saw cannot be beat. I hope Suizan plans on selling replacements blades for it.

Fantastic saw. This was my first pull saw. I think I like it. The nature of this kind of saw is that you're working with finer, probably smaller, more delicate sizes & cuts. Not a whole lot of need to capitalize on the efficiency of a pull rather than a push. That's just my observation, and isn't meant as a negative.Simple, basic construction - nothing fancy but nicely-enough made and light & well balanced, this saw cuts THE thinnest line/kerf I've ever seen! Almost no wastage, so you can utilize about 99.9% of the length (or width) of your piece of wood. The cut produces a smoothly finished surface, and - depending on your skill and the use of the wood - will need very little sanding or other surface remediation. On the whole: Wow! It's impressive!

I really enjoy using Japanese saws for woodworking. These saws cut on the pull stroke and not on the push stroke as most "western" saws do, so the blade can be thinner. With a little practice, I can cut dovetails and other hand-made joints faster and more accurately. This particular saw cuts fast and works well, particularly for small, precise work like dovetails in thinner stock or cutting kumiko (thin wood strips used in Shoji screens). One downside to Japanese saws is that it is not practical to resharpen the blade. The teeth are complex and small. The good news, it that you can purchase replacement blades at a reasonable cost.I found out the hard way that the teeth on this particular saw are somewhat fragile. I was cutting dovetails in 5/8" thick white oak and noticed the saw jamming in the saw kerf. I took a look at the blade and found I had about an inch-long gap of missing teeth. Now, I use a heavier saw for this type of application, and I keep an extra blade on hand.

I purchased this saw specifically for hand cutting dovetail joints in exotic hardwoods as thin as 1/4". The ultra thin blade allow for extremely narrow pins and tails leaving no doubt the dovetails were hand cut. The sharpness of the teeth leaves a very smooth finish on the cuts. Mastering the use of a Japanese pull saw does take time and patience. However, the final result is well worth the effort. If you use too much pressure you will mostly likely break teeth on this type of saw. After many dozens of dovetails, I have not broken a single tooth on this saw and should you have a few broken teeth the saw will continue to perform admirably well. Magnetic blade guides are extremely helpful for keeping the blade properly aligned when cutting. In my opinion, this saw is far superior to a western style dovetail saw. Replacement blades are very reasonably priced making it cost effective to simply replace a blade rather than attempt to sharpen it when it eventually becomes dull. If you demand precision cuts, this saw is an excellent choice.

The saw is very sharp and a pleasure to use. I need to work on being more precise with my cuts. It produces a very accurate cut.

ATTENTION PEOPLE USED TO NEW WOODWORKERS!! I was too aggressive with a hard piece of maple and stripped a few teeth where i started the cut. No fault of the saw, it still works with that same blade infact, i’m just used to push saws and wanted to try something nicer but also affordable. Just bought a replacement blade and will be more careful next time so i dont kill any other blades

This is one fine saw! I plan on using it to do Japanese kumiko woodworking. It cuts easily and cleanly.

Llego a tiempo, es resistente, viene con una funda de protección, fácil de usar y tiene mucho filó.

As you might expect, this saw cuts very slowly and very precisely. I have a very high quality Spear and Jackson tenon saw, and was struggling to get really good results with Kumiko, especially with strips thinner than 2mm. With this saw I was able to get excellent results even with 1mm thick Kumiko strips.Note that the deepest cut you can make with this saw is about 40mm. If you want to use the whole blade, then the maximum cutting depth is 32mm (1-1/4").

Para trabajos finos es lo ideal.

Amazing tool! It solved the problem I was struggling with.

Permite un corte preciso y rápido. Su hoja es muy delgada, por lo cual reduce mucho el material que se pierde al hacer los cortes.La costilla ayuda a hacer cortes más derechos
