Typical vice grips with receivers welded to the jaws. I got them so I wouldn't wake the family if I got bored at night and started a project. These are not Craftsman quality but they're not Craftsman priced either. As long as you accept that, you won't be disappointed. They operate exactly like any other vice grip but the hinges and mechanism are a bit on the "gritty" side. Again, you're paying for function, not finish. Think "Harbor Freight" and you'll understand it. And they worked just fine on the test snap I tried (Line 24).

Our pontoon boat’s bimini cover had a bad snap. As usual, I searched on Amazon, found and ordered this kit. They’re well made and stainless steel should last a long time. My better half looked at it and said, “Whoa! What the… do I do with this?” I showed him the easy to read/follow instructions. He said, “What do I use to install it?” I showed him the included tool. He’s very handy but was skeptical whether he could do it in a reasonable time. Most times, every job takes three times as long as you think it will but he was able to easily replace it and in half the time he expected! That’s a win.

Works perfectly much better than the little tool they give you when you but a snap kit

The kit works, but it’s not very durable. The snaps will sometimes come apart when you remove them, and the metal on the button side feels weak. It’s clear the manufacturer kept costs low, and the durability shows it. These snaps are fine for light use, but not for anything that needs real strength or long‑term reliability. If you want high‑quality, long‑lasting marine snaps, look at DOT Fasteners (Scovill), YKK, or Stimpson. Those American‑made brands use stronger stainless hardware and hold up far better than the imported kits.

Haven't got to use it yet but opened it up everything looks like it should. Looks like decent quality.

The punch hole tool that comes with this kit is for paper, not canvas. The handle bent right away trying to punch a single layer of canvas.
